Oh joy.
The Associated Press: Palin finishes memoir, 'Going Rogue,' out Nov. 17
Quote:
Sarah Palin, the former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate, has finished her memoir just four months after the book deal was announced, and the release date has been moved up from the spring to Nov. 17, her publisher said.

"Going Rogue" was what the McCain camp accused her of doing during the campaign when she was being all stupid and making them look bad. She is wearing the insult as a badge of honor.

Hmm. She can write?
Oh yeah, ghost writers.
There's a job I don't envy, trying to make her speechifying into coherent prose.
My she is trying to cash in on her fame, isn't she?
How many talk shows is she on now?

Sometimes when I look at American politics, or what passes for politics, I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Militarily the most powerful country in the world is dominated by a bunch of lunatics. Scary!

You may not like Obama, but I hardly think he's a lunatic.

I'm so glad she resigned as Governor of Alaska for the good of the people. It would have sucked for Alaska to have a governor living in California to finish her book.

I will not be reading her memoir.
OTOH, when the G.W. Bush book comes out next year, I'll pick it up. That one sounds like it could be pretty interesting.

Re: Caribou Barbie is at it again
Thanks, not attributing ghost writers is lame. I sincerely doubted she could string a paragraph, much less write 400 pages.
I was interested to see in the comments about Pharmaceutical companies ghostwriting in medical journals too.
I had no idea.
Yay. Science!

Drafting a far-reaching bill longer than 300 pages in eight days just simply isn't plausible.
Man, I should really run for office. I would cause everyone fits.

And note that no one at HarperCollins, publisher of Palin’s book and subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch’s global media empire News Corp., needs to call anyone at ABC News, which is owned by CapCities ABC, or online tabloids like The Huffington Post , and ask them to minimize the question of authorship.
|
God bless the "liberal" Huffington Post, right? If anybody should be all over the absurdity of Sarah Palin writing a book when she couldn't even say which books she reads in her interview with Katie Couric, it should be the HuffPo. But they won't touch it, in part because they're as much a part of the corporate media monopoly as anything else, and because some uncomfortable questions might be raised about some very prominent Democrats' books. Like about JFK's book Profiles in Courage. Kennedy accepted a Pulitzer Prize for a book he didn't write.

Re: Caribou Barbie is at it again
The Gaggle : McCain Strategist: Palin in 2012 Would be 'Catastrophic' for GOP
Quote:
Looks like there’s at least one high-profile Republican who won’t be voting for Sarah Palin should she run in 2012. Steve Schmidt, John McCain’s top political strategist in 2008, told a forum in Washington today that nominating Palin as the party’s next presidential nominee would be “catastrophic” for Republicans. “I think that she has talents, but my honest view is that she would not be a winning candidate,” Schmidt said. “In fact, were she to be the nominee, we would have a catastrophic election result.”
|
In a way, I hope they don't listen to Schmidt and they do run her for president. It would be a blood bath but I think the it would pretty much guarantee that the Repubs would lose.
I found this to be a little bizarre:
Quote:
UPDATE, 1:43pm: Meg Stapleton, Palin's spokeswoman, responds via e-mail: "The Governor will write about all of this in her book. There will be plenty of time to talk about it then."
|
The Governor? Non any more, she quit. Will write? Isn't the book already written?

Re: Caribou Barbie is at it again
Provided some bizarre turn of events doesn't win her the election, do you think a Palin ticket in 2012 would finally spell the end of the Republican party as the opposition party to the Dems, or would they continue to hang around, increasingly decrepit and splintered?
