Relevant song. I knew exactly what that tweet thread was referring to before reading the rest of the thread.
Still not much has changed.

Re: Miscellany
Internet Drama!!
If you watch internet videos or youtube you might have heard of the Nostalgia Critic. If not a brief summary. Nostalgia Critic is a character of Doug Walker who reviews and makes fun of old bad movies first under the pretense of whether or not nostalgic films hold up or if you just have nostalgia for them. He spurred on this style of video review and his brother Rob and at least two other dudes a Mike E and Mike M started a video aggregation site around 2007 or so to promote people they brought on, First as That Guy With the Glasses .com and then later as Channel Awesome .com
Speed the clock up to now and a number of top contributors to that site have left and previously fired contributors have put together their grievances into an easy to read google doc. While there are some worriesome allegations, most are more along the lines of comedic ineptitude, which makes it a great read if you're interested in drama a bit lighter than say police murders.
Channel Not So Awesome (Google Doc)
A few highlights include being confused that actors on a set need water, being utter douches and forcing an injured woman to sign away her liability before they would help, the main douche Mike M being quoted a 60k price by the people who built the white house website so he went with a $100 template instead. Their producer login page still has a generic sports logo on it due to the template. etc.
The irony is that the Nostalgia Critic made the Room more popular by mocking the low production quality and crazy producer while being those same low quality producers that think they are gods.

I remember the Nostalgia Critic - he was tolerable in short bursts and then I tired of his shtick pretty quickly.
The "Nostalgia Chick" (Lindsay Ellis) however, was way more insightful and funny. I was glad to learn she left both the network and the name behind - I still follow her on YouTube.
I was curious and watched one of the crossover "movies" that the Channel Awesome team did. It was mostly in-joke references to the cast's YouTube personas. It was mostly unwatchable.

Re: Miscellany
Indeed! That's the thing, Doug Walker got famous mostly for the Nostalgia Critic reviews, which have slowly incorporated his skits to a larger and larger degree, the skits and 'movies' I find completely unwatchable, I generally watch him to provide summary for bad movies I don't want to watch in full and so do most others as his 'break out, 'I'm not just the Nostalgia Critic' show Demo Reel bombed hard. It's pretty amazing to compare his recent stuff with Nostalgia Chick, who clearly went to film school and dove into the history and process where as Doug cranked his white balance hard towards the blues in an effort to prove his early tungsten work was a 'design choice' and not just him not understanding how to use his equipment.
Among the things kinda glanced over is that Mike Michaud basically owns Doug's testicles. For some reason the only thing Doug has ever done well was signed over to MM who is clearly the major problem of the bunch. While pure speculation I wouldn't be surprised if there was some sort of company tax loophole that was being taken advantage of and the reason for the whole operation, as while MM apparently came to the Walker's to create the site, he clearly has no interest in actually making the site beyond a front.

That describes my feelings and experiences regarding the Nostalgia Critic and Nostalgia Chick to a tee.

Re: Miscellany
I agree with you both for the most part. I honestly still like the older Nostalgia Critic stuff. I think the association with the rest of the TGWTG group—Nostalgia Chick and OanCitizen excepted— sunk Doug Walker as much as his own dumbass decisions and douchebag sponsors.
Obligatory shoutout for OanCitizen aka Kyle Kallgren, who defected with N. Chick, who between them created more worthwhile content than the rest of the That Guy team ... hell, before they left, let alone what they produced afterward.

I needed one 3.5mm audio cable, but then for just a couple bucks extra, they had a four pack in different colors, which helps because I have a big tangle of cords I'm trying to manage, and I just got kind of greedy with the audio cables.
Well, my order just came, and instead of the one four pack of 3.5mm audio cables, I got two four packs of 2.5mm ones.
I mean, I do have some adapters, and 2.5mm are more commonly useful, so I guess it's OK?

Well, 4 X 3.5 = 14, and 8 X 2.5 = 20, so you're getting nearly 50% more bandwidth with the two packs of 2.5 mm cables.

Expanding my personal theory that Michaud is a sleaze with just enough legal knowledge to fuck good intentioned people over as he abruptly skips over the section by their only real employee (Holly Brown their HR person) which is the main area where he needs to watch his words to not get nailed in court. It's amazing how they suddenly become partially competent only when it might directly hurt Michaud.
Their site is now a ghost town with almost every producer outside the Nostalgia Critic people gone. Many fans are disgusted and the second reply has gotten almost universal negative reactions from fans.

Re: Miscellany
I can’t believe I just now realized that “The Star Spangled Banner” scans perfectly well if you replace all of the lyrics with “fuck all of this shit” repeated over and over.

There are two kinds of people in this world, those who can extrapolate from incomplete sequences.

Oddly I ordered 5 feet of a certain cable and got a 5 pack of 2 feet of cable....I don't know if it's a web problem or an ordering problem. Seems that should be pretty clear, since they have such different functions

'Very angry badger' causes part of Scottish castle to be closed | Environment | The Guardian
Quote:
Parts of a Scottish castle remain closed to the public after a “very angry badger” took up residence. The cellar tunnel at Craignethan Castle, in South Lanarkshire, was initially closed last week after the animal arrived, and remains closed while the damage it caused is repaired.
