Re: Two Minutes Love
In April, Victoria Wilcher was attacked by three pit bulls. It's difficult to search for original, contemporary, stories from that incident. Luckily she did survive but has to undergo several surgeries from the injuries that she received.
Last Thursday her grandmother was bringing her home from the hospital visit and they stop at a KFC to get some food. At some point while they were there they were approached by a staff member and asked to leave because injuries were disturbing to other customers.
While all of that belongs in the what the fuck is wrong with people thrad (which we don't have, att: lisapea), what happens next fits firmly right here.
KFC to Help Pay Hospital Bills
Quote:
"As soon as we were notified of this report on Friday, we immediately began an investigation, as this kind of hurtful and disrespectful action would not be tolerated by KFC," spokesman Rick Maynard wrote Sunday in an email to The Associated Press. "Regardless of the outcome of our investigation, we have apologized to Victoria's family and are committed to assisting them. The company is making a $30,000 donation to assist with her medical bills. The entire KFC family is behind Victoria."

Damage control by a corporation, even if it comes at a cost of 30 grand, does not qualify for two minutes of love.

Re: Two Minutes Love
I went to the ramshackle Comcast service center to cancel my service, took a number to wait. It was a pretty long line, but I opted to wait. While waiting, I saw an older gentleman give his number to a lady waiting with 2 kids. As it turns out, someone else gave him a ticket, so he had 2, the lady, in turn gave hers to someone else.
Now I'm a bit jealous, because I had the same idea, only I chose to wait it out, and all the families with children came in before me.
Instead, I spent some of my wait time watching a toddler try to figure out what the customer service guy's scanner did. The mom put a stop to it once she saw he was pointing the laser scanner in his eyes.

BBC News - Sean Parker: Irish village brings home its 'lost son'
A sad story which, despite a beautiful epilogue, is no less sad. But the love in Glinsk right now must be overflowing.

Re: Two Minutes Love
I'm unable to find an active thread on religious freedom so this goes here:
Former Porn Star, Atheist, Pastafarian, Wears Colander For Utah Driver's License
Bonus points for the url alone: utah-porn-star-colander
Quote:
she wasn't sure if officials at the Division of Motor Vehicles office in Hurricane would allow her to wear the headgear, but "it was surprisingly really, really easy."
Nannette Rolfe, the director of Utah's Driver License Division, said about a dozen Pastafarians have had their state driver's license photos taken with a similar colander or pasta strainer on their heads in recent years.
"As long as we can get a visual of the face, we're fine if they choose to wear the headgear," she said.
Hats and headgear are not allowed for driver's license photos unless they're religious garments, Rolfe said. After the first few Pastafarians came in about two years ago, state officials determined the church is a recognized religion and its members don't require any special paperwork, she said.

Re: Two Minutes Love
The Finding of Arkady Gidrat
The BBC article is strangely, and I think, quite misleadingly, titled. "The Unknown Soldier" is an honorific given to a battlefield corpse whose identity has been lost, whereas the story is of identified soldiers whose remains are still being searched for. (I guess it's an awkward translation from the Russian.)

I am mentally going through all the pasta shapes I can think of and I'm not seeing one that fits the description. Pictures, please.

Re: Two Minutes Love
Ok, so it's six minutes love, and please ignore the obligatory soppy music, but...
The number of abandoned and neglected pets amazes me. I will never buy one from a dealer, even if it is a "private" breeder of pedigrees, or a pet shop. All my dogs, cats and birds have been foundlings, hand-me-downs or up for adoption at the RCSPA. There are just too many surplus critters around to do otherwise.
