My inner hippy is doing backflips hoping this is the promise of the internet and the wave of the future. My outer cynic says, meh, prolly not.
This is me all the time about everything.
Yeah, me too; but I figure unless there's some real danger of some actual bad thing happening as a result, I vote for being happy that people are trying new stuff to see if it works.
On one occasion after an "I'm gay" announcement, I watched my husband reach out to ruffle our son's hair. "I know, buddy," my husband said to him. "And you're awesome, too."

Imagine what this kid could build with an Engineering degree!
I can't stop thinking about this kid. The machines were cool, especially when he made the claw machine, but what really blew my mind was using the "checkmark" key on the calculator to validate the fun passes. He basically invented the concept of a hash or checksum all on his own with the tools he had available, without even apparently knowing what a square root is. Those are extremely advanced concepts.

I thought calling it a checkmark was unbearably cute.
I think I have to emphasize how much credit should be given to this kid. I was a computer nerd in high school (just a bit), and I didn't even know about the concept until someone told me about it. It's simply brilliant what he did.
I also love his dedication to replicating the experience of an arcade. The uniform, the s-hook, and especially the tickets, which he had to hand-feed through a slot in the box.
I don't know if I would have gone through as much trouble as the guy who made that video, but I know I would have purchased a fun pass.
