Don't cats hate anything that makes hissing noises (like an aerosol can) by default?

Okay, good to know! I was worried I was just a bad mom, but if her sister has it too then we can both be bad moms together.

We seemed to have misplaced Kali It's been over 5 days since we've seen her. I'm really worried and I have a feeling we won't be seeing her again.

Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
Q decided about a week ago that she was an outside cat, despite having been afraid of leaves and the wind and her own shadow up until that point. I think she may have got a boyfriend or something. Perhaps Kali's situation is similar?
We're thinking about "Ripley" for the dog.

Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
V and Ripley are getting along swimmingly. They're both very curious about and wary of each other, but neither is frightened of the other. Ripley is afraid of people and other dogs and basically anything bigger than her, but she is okay with cats. And V grew up with chihuahuas before we got him. He is already playing his little dominance games by eating the dog's food right in front of her. But anyway, they're chilling within about six feet of each other on the living room floor, each pretending to be ignoring the other. Well Ripley's tearing into her pig ear, and V's pretending to ignore her.
Q hasn't been home yet. She's still on sabbatical. I'll be interested in her reaction when she gets home, since she was afraid of damn V when she met him, and she grew up with another cat! But she's gotten a lot braver recently, so we'll see.
So earlier I took Ripley to the pet supply store and tried to tempt her with the various toys and bones and crap, and the only thing that piqued her interest were these pig's ears bigger than her head. She can't get enough of it. She really is her mommy and daddy's baby. Fucking redneck.

It would probably have to be fairly taut and there be dish of food on the other side.

Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
Q is a mostly indoor cat again. I don't know if she broke up with her boyfriend or what. She went almost entirely outdoor (staying out all night and only coming home to eat) about a week before the dog arrived, so at least I knew I didn't have to blame the dog for her sudden departure. But the last couple days and nights she's been hanging out with us inside the house again. Yay!

The cats in the backyard. Excuse the poor quality, it's shot through a wire mesh screen window and hand held.

He's weirded out for a few hours afterward, but then he's the normal Tigger after that.

It's been about a year since the seizures started. First it was one every couple of months, then it was one a month, now it's 2 to 3 a month, so I took him to the vet yesterday for medication. I held off putting him on it for as long as I could, but now I think it would be more detrimental to not have him on it than to have him on it.
After the vet took blood for testing and gave me a cup to collect some of Tigger's pee in this morning ( that was interesting ), he gave me a prescription to bring to the pharmacy for phenalbarbitol. It's not technically FDA approved for vets to dispense which is why I have to get it at the pharmacy. However, it's proven to work and what the first line of defense is for canine epilepsy.
Has or does anyone here had/have a dog on phenalbarbitol?

When I was a girl I knew a shelty who had seizures. I don't know what meds he was on -- this was in the 80s so who knows what they used back then -- but he lived a very long life.

Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
Our dog, a yorkie, I believe was on phenalbarbitol a few years back. Apparently he belonged to my man's (disgusting) mother and was having them because she wouldn't keep her house clean and was growing mold that was messing with him. because now that he is out of that he has been fine. I couldn't tell you anything about his experience with it, but he is still one healthy baby, so it couldn't have been anything bad
In other news (rat news is good here, right? lol) my very first rat, Marble, just passed away.. She was in pain all this morning, and I could tell by how she looked that she wasn't going to make it. I put her down myself. Banana passed away last week, too, but she died in her sleep, fortunately.
My baby rat fully got over his eye infection. He is a little cyclops, now, but he is so sweet. He almost thinks of me as his mommy, and will stick around me as much as possible.
