But that is not radio controlled! How would I even know when to change the time to daylight savings and back? Would I have to get the Farmer's Almanac or something?

Doesn't your mom call to tell you? I thought that was how all humans know when to Spring Forward or Fall Back.

Sorry, they didn't have watches synched to the atomic clocks back in 1984.

Like Megatron, I organically pick that up twice a year, when I go to the store and it isn't open yet, or show up to my hockey just as the game ends.

It's seems like an easily solved problem to me. If you have an analog display on your wristwatch, all you need to do is attach a sort of miniature analog calculator to your wristwatch:

I have a watch like that. It is also solar powered. I call it my Tom Swift Solar Powered Atomic Wristwatch.

Re: Fucking education! How does it work?
Students can be amazing -- in both good ways and in bad ways.
I'm giving an exam in a little over an hour. I just got an e-mail from one student to inform me that she's going on vacation for the week, and will be taking the exam when she gets back. Oh really?
Another student from the same class just showed up at my office. He has been injured at work, and has a good-sized gash in his thumb. He wanted to take the test now, so that he could get it over with as quickly as possible -- then go to the hospital to have his wound treated. I sent him to the hospital. He can take the test tomorrow; I think he has a perfectly good excuse.

Re: Fucking education! How does it work?
I sense a simple exam question here.
1. One gash in a thumb requiring stitches entitles a student to take the test one day late (by prior agreement of course).
What degree of wounding would entitle a student to take the test one week late?
A. Deep wounds in seven or more fingers.
B. Amputation of one or both hands.
C. Loss of sight in both eyes.
D. Amputation of head.

Re: Fucking education! How does it work?
I would think amputation of the head would get you out of most tests.

That should be evaluated on a student by student basis. There are some students whose performance would not be affected by such an injury.

I believe it was George Carlin who observed that "Half of the worlds population is of below average intelligence". George Carlin was an optimist.

In statistics 'mean' and 'average' are synonymous.

He meant the median, I think Ding intended to say, on account of it's a joke.

Re: Fucking education! How does it work?
An elementary school in Elwood, NY cancelled the end of the school year kindergarten show, citing "more rigorous learning standards" required for preparing students to be college or career ready. When parents complained, they sent out this letter.
For fucking kindergarteners?
