The great thing about Garrick is, even if he came right out and said his preference? You'd never know if he was telling the truth or lying or both.
I've been on and off (re)watching DS9. So, while brushing the dogs this weekend, I thought, "Hey, I'll continue watching DS9, that's a good show to brush a dog to." I wound up watching 5-6 hours of it - I happened to catch it right when they started the "fundamentalist religious leader stirs trouble on the station", which leads to a 3 part civil war arc.

Transliteration from Cardassian probably has some room for interpretation. Like how there's a million equally valid ways to spell Mohammed or Chanukah.
Most, but not all, Cardassians go by single names or a title and name, but Garak has gone both by ‘Garak’ and ‘Elim’ and has on occasion treated them as separate people. We know Elim is most likely his real name as he has more emotional connection to it, as well as hiding it from others, as opposed to ‘Garak’ which he’s fine with anyone knowing. So ‘Garak’ is quite likely a cover name.

This threw a bit of wrench in my weekend plans.
And resulted in hairless dogs?
If my Sheltie could stand to be brushed for 5-6 hours, that still probably wouldn't put a dent in his hair. He's extremely furry. Lucky for him, I gave up on brushing long before I gave up on DS9. Plus, I can sit on the floor for only so long.
It's a cartoon version of Star Trek that follows a group of 'lower deck' ensigns who help maintain the ship, but don't have the glorious positions we're used to seeing in TV shows.
I've watched the first 2 episodes and I like it Quite funny, quick paced, irreverent cartoon set in a Star Trek background.
Give it a go if you think you'd like that sort of thing.
I've seen it advertised, but it doesn't seem to be on any of the networks we're subscribed to. Unsurprising, since we have the cheapest package. Not a huge fan of cartoons myself - except the Simpsons, of course, and Nightmare before Christmas.
Our regular lunchtime viewing these days is the entire DS9 series, from the beginning, one episode per day. (You've got to make $140 CD last - especially since there seems little hope of decent new programming. I can only stomach so much American Talent.) Can't count on streaming out in the boonies. With everybody working and learning from home, our bandwidth shrinks to impossible.
I'm two episodes away from finishing DS9 and it's been a fun ride. I can't believe I refused to jump aboard sooner because "they don't trek anywhere!"
I also refused to watch Voyager because Kate Mulgrew's voice bugged when I listened to outtakes on my podcast. (Turns out the voice doesn't bug when you actually watch her talk.) I finished that series two years ago.
While playing Heads Up during a party we discovered the Star Trek deck. My daughter and I wiped the floor with our opponents with obscure (to them) answers like "Weyoun!" and "Raktajino!"
So happy Daughter forced me to give DS9 a try.
Once we're done with DS9 we'll be tackling Enterprise, which I gave up in spite of its starring Scott Bakula. I hope my reluctance will have been for naught in the case of this series, too.
It probably goes without saying, but I fully endorse the watching of DS9 from beginning to end. I feel like that's when Trek really began doing serialized stories, like 3, 4, or 10-episode arcs, as opposed to alien-of-the-week episodic style stories. And it's all so good.
All the different cultures and religions, and schisms and factions within said cultures and religions. It's not all earth/human centric, probably on account of being way out in deep space and all.
I'm glad I had my daughter to guide me through DS9 because the callbacks were so old she had to remind me what the characters were talking about. I mean, here we are in Season 7 and she makes me pause it: "Remember back in Season 2 when [x]?"
That tells me this series was the Breaking Bad of its day. They had a vision of how the story would go down and it largely went the way they planned.
I liked it enough. Fun to see the Andorians and Orions working together. Hilarious to see Michael high. Especially "i have a red headed friend, definitely don't give this to her"
Most of the rest of it was stupid, but whatever. Discovery is back
I'm ready for the return of the ship. I miss our red headed friend.
