Then just twist and pull it out. Then you do have to bang the handle of the knife on the edge of the trash can to get it to come off the knife...

holding the avocado though, that pit is slippery
Meanwhile, apparently for years and years my parents thought avocados were way too much work to be worth eating at home... because they would
peel the avocado, instead of cutting it in half and scooping out the insides.
Unfortunately, they saw my brother do it the proper way before I saw them do it. So they've still never shown me how to "peel" an avocado.
