Finding the things that say Hillary and Trump are the same even less amusing than before.

But maybe someone could tell me which white nationalist she would've appointed to a top job in that case.

The State Department Spokesperson began his press briefing by alleging that the Russian military purposely struck 5 hospitals in Syria recently.

Kirby then accused the Syrian government and Russian military of blocking aid to east Aleppo, despite the fact that the latter setup two humanitarian ceasefires to allow supplies to enter the besieged neighborhoods.

When Chichakyan asked him to provide sources for these allegations and locations of these hospitals, Kirby verbally lashed out at the journalist for attempting to get a response from him.

Subjectively, I thought the moon did look bigger, brighter and with enhanced contrast that made the features more distinct.

According to this website, there is certainly a discernible difference in size between apogee and perogee full moon.

True - that's difference between nearest and farthest. I'm not sure I'd notice even that size difference without some direct comparison object to refer to.

What I object to is the media telling people to 'go look at the supermoon tonight at 11 pm' or similar: compared to what the moon looked like last night or a month ago there will be no discernible difference. The moon's distance only changes a little from night to night, and never all that much between one full moon and the next.

Not sure where to put this, it has some philosophy, some science, some politics. So, here.

When the facts don't matter, how can democracy survive? - The Washington Post

Quote:
But this anti-intellectual, ignore-the-data attitude mostly owes its growth to a careless, conspiracy-theorizing league of (mostly) conservative politicians and pundits. They elevated themselves by sowing distrust in traditional institutions and sources of authority, from the media to civil servants to scientists. They presented themselves as the sole truth-tellers, system de-riggers and messianic statistics unskewers, while maintaining that everyone else was feeding the public lies.
Picked up from:
Dangers of a Fact-Free America - The Big Picture

Quote:
I happened to come across this comment on Facebook:

Safe to say I took that with a grain of salt and set about verifying it. After all, it’s easy to see how folks living in that economic environment would be longing for the type of change Trump claims he’s going to provide. So, off to BLS.gov I went to see exactly what’s going on in Longmont, CO.

Here’s what I found:

So, Ms. Fitzgerald likely took herself to her local polling place and cast a vote for Mr. Trump, who’s surely going to do something about the 8.8% unemployment rate that is, in reality, 3.3%.
Both posts interesting in their entirety.

But after talking to a disabled transwoman who seriously thought voting for the ticket with Mike Pence on it was the height of rational thought, I'm not surprised by much anymore.

Yup. Gabbard likes the BJP and embraces some anti-Muslim rhetoric.

She definitely duped a lot of Sanders supporters (especially the ones who criticized Clinton for being too hawkish) with her endorsement. There were others who recognized she was just anti-establishment and riding Sanders's coattails, but not really in agreement with him on a number of issues.

Well, I don't know her or necessarily agree with her on anything else but a no-fly zone would be disastrous. So if she can convince Trump of that, good on her.

I don't think Trump needs her to convince him. My impression is that since that would mean friction with Russia, he won't do it just on that basis.

But she also is one of the people (and one of the few Democrats) out there who criticizes Obama for not saying "radical Islamic terror" and for attributing Middle Eastern terrorism to anything but Islamic theology.

The Curious Islamophobic Politics of Dem Congressmember Tulsi Gabbard | Alternet

She might have arrived at what you consider the right policy on Syria, but I doubt it was for the right reasons. Of course, there are more aspects to policy towards Syria than whether to have a no-fly zone...

Curiously enough, her father is a rabid homophobe, who was involved in stopping gay marriage in Hawaii in the 90s. She herself held anti-gay positions until, as far as I can tell, she decided to run for Congress. And not just the wishy-washy minimal opposition to same-sex marriage that Obama and Clinton had before their "evolutions". She said things like "As Democrats we should be representing the views of the people, not a small number of homosexual extremists" or that "many parents would see [gov't funded studies of LGBT students] as an indirect attempt by government to encourage young people to question their sexual orientation" and has admitted that her personal beliefs are still in opposition to gay marriage and such.

There were people saying they couldn't forgive Clinton for "evolving" later than other Democrats, but I can imagine if she had said anything like that, those quotes would've been playing on repeat during the primaries.

Gabbard endorsing Bernie Sanders seemingly erased that. I've seen people who would've raked Clinton across the coals had she said anything like Gabbard about gays or Islam talk her up as the future of the party, being chair of the DNC and the like.

She's good on a lot of issues, better than many Democrats on economic issues and such. But relative to her very liberal district in Hawaii (she won by 60 pts), I think we could do better.
