Re: Miscellany
That wasn’t what I got out of it. I’m pretty sure it’s a reference to the Pet Shop Boys.

I swear I knew that was one of their songs at some point. I don’t know why it slipped my mind.
Anyway, I’m mostly here to post Sir Ian McKellen reading a Shakespeare monologue that I had no idea existed before today:
(if it doesn’t take you to the proper time, go to 2:44 to hear the monologue)
It is, unfortunately, highly topical given recent events. Would that it weren’t.

Re: Miscellany
So last year, I put down a layer of cardboard over the lawn as a weed barrier and topped it all with mulch in order to kill the front lawn. There was still a small patch, though, that I hadn't gotten covered, so I figured I was going to have to go find another tree guy like I did last year (I found an arborist on Craigslist and paid them $35 to deliver the load), and I was not looking forward to that.
But then, like a week ago, the doorbell rings and it is Jason Momoa, and he says, "I am an arborist and I have a load of mulch I was going to bring back to the yard, but I noticed you looked like you might want it instead," and I was like, "YES," so they dropped off a huge truckload of new mulch in the driveway! For free! (I did give them $10 because that's how much cash I had, just as a thank you.)
However, I had a really bad cold and felt like all kinds of crap, so I didn't get to it right away. But the cold is finally tapering off enough for me to work on it, and I am now having some consequences of my actions, which hardly seems fair.
It actually is working really well, though, and we won't have to mow the front lawn anymore, and the total cost was $45.

Re: Miscellany
Well, we already have one giant blue spruce and a big, spread out juniper, and we lost our other big blue spruce a couple years ago, so the long term plan is that I want to put in one or two fast growing evergreens as a privacy/shade/lawn minimizing thing, then fill the remaining patches in with groundcover.
But until then, it's just going to be mulch.

Re: Miscellany
…So I think you may have buried the lede here. Did you actually meet Jason Momoa working as an arborist, or did the dude just look like him? I’m assuming it was the latter, but if it was the former, it’s definitely a buried lede.
