Yeah, and there's an even worse one, too, which I'm loathe to link to, but you've got to see it to believe it.
There were a bunch of apparently women pinning that one time I looked at the main page.

Ugh.
Those really, really, offend me, at multiple levels. I mean, not just that they're demeaning to women, but they're also demeaning to men, and frankly to the species as a whole. They presuppose the impossibility of adults interacting with each other as people.

I kept seeing 'friend zone' in various image macros and looked it up on Wikipedia.

I'd say, yes. That reads as quite disturbing.

Re: Return to Gender 101
http://geekfeminism.org/2012/03/19/w...the-geeky-way/
Quote:
For those who haven’t heard it a million times, the idea is that when somebody says something that could remotely be turned into a sexual joke, e.g. “I’m trying to solve this problem but it’s really hard!” you say “That’s what SHE said,” in a lascivious tone.
[ ... Ed.]
Now, I admit to having made this joke myself, at times. Once in a while, I even find it funny. What I don’t find funny is a bot we have in our general IRC channel at work, that has some basic AI devoted to determining when to interject TWSS into the conversation.
I asked a number of times to have that bot function turned off, but got the usual combination of being ignored, being told it’s funny, and being told I should lighten up. I tried explaining once why it was objectionable, and managed to get the guys saying variations, e.g. “That’s what your DAD said,” for an evening, but that was about it.
|
... of course! But wait, there's more.
Quote:
Last Friday, the bot went a bit crazy and started throwing TWSS into the conversation with no apparent rhyme or reason. Finally, I had had enough. And then it came to me: I would write my OWN bot, that responded to TWSS with a quotation from a notable woman. If they are so keen on what she said, why don’t we get educated about what she really had to say. And so the “whatshereallysaid” bot was born. It might annoy the guys into shutting off the TWSS bot, or we might all learn about notable women. It’s a win either way, in my books!

Ha ha, so you know how in a different thrad we were talking about fauxpologies?
Social Media Idiocy Of The Day: Belvedere Vodka's Rape Joke - Forbes
Yep. A hilarious rape joke to advertise vodka!
...aaaand the fake apology: “We apologize to any of our fans who were offended by our recent tweet. We continue to be an advocate of safe and responsible drinking.”
Never mind apologizing for perpetuating rape culture with the "Hey bro, it's OK. We're all secretly rapists" insinuation. GET IT?

I'm disappointed by their apology, the klan doesn't apologize for being racist.
Belvedere vodka should just embrace open misogyny and rape culture like the frat douches that they are attempting to market to.

Re: Return to Gender 101
Another fauxpology, slightly better but still no explicit "We joked about rape and that sucks"
Quote:
Another Update: There’s no news of a firing, nor pointing of fingers at Belvedere’s digital ad agency Last Exit Strategies, but Belvedere Vodka did issue an actual apology late Friday night. Here’s a statement they sent me via email:
I am Jason Lundy, SVP of Global Marketing for Belvedere.
Unfortunately a Facebook & Twitter posting was made today that has offended many of our fans and followers — and indeed the people who work here at Belvedere. The post is absolutely inconsistent with our values and beliefs and in addition to removing the offensive post we are committed to making sure that something like this doesn’t happen again. As an expression of our deep disappointment and regret, we are making a charitable donation to a women’s support cause. We deeply apologize to our fans & followers.

That seems like am admission of wrong doing, not merely apologizing that people were offended. They didn't explicitly mention rape our sexual assault, but I don't know that that makes it a fauxpology.

That second statement - mainly the part that says "and indeed the people who work here at Belvedere. The post is absolutely inconsistent with our values and beliefs and in addition to removing the offensive post we are committed to making sure that something like this doesn’t happen again" - reads to me as "we fired some asshole for this." Which I think is a pretty reasonable outcome.

fantastic video from the CATO INSTITUTE:
Most feminists and all sort of neo-marxists use the "Pay gap" as a proof that society discriminates against women: this can't be further from truth, women discriminate themself by being less productive and more risk-averse

Boy, they're a highly credible source.
(Hint: Sarcasm.)
I am under the vague impression that they were less obviously dishonest maybe twenty years ago, but I certainly don't take them seriously now.

Even if this were true, it would be completely irrelevant.
Someone who makes stuff up and lies openly 90% of the time is certainly more reliable than someone who does so 95% of the time, but I'm still not going to pay attention to it.
The Cato people do shitty research starting with a proposed conclusion and adjusting reported facts to support that conclusion. Of the five things you cite, three are things I consider unconditionally worthless sources, one is marginal, and one is too broad a category to assign a rating to. That you would assign any such characteristic to "feminists" as a category marks you as either dishonest or insane. The category is too broad to admit such characterization.
You still haven't ever done anything or created anything.
Here's the thing. Under the rules you propose? You're not doing anything of value. I am. I go out there and I get things done, I make other peoples' work dramatically more efficient. From what little you've said about your complete lack of effort or productivity, it sounds like I earn more bonuses in a year than you've earned anything ever. So... Basically, as someone who thoroughly outranks you under your proposed ranking, I advise you to consider the possibility that you are full of shit.

Geeze, even when I was a fairly naive lolbertarian as a kid, I was nowhere near that bad.
That said, I've gotten a lot better since I started watching actual people trying to deal with disabilities, discrimination, and such like. I've also learned that the world does not always act the way people predict it to.
