Sorry I missed you. I was up late but not that late.

I was dreaming that I intentionally sliced open my finger and I was trying to sew it closed, but the needle was so big and sticky that it was just making a bigger mess of the wound.

Strange as it seemed when I first heard about it, crazy glue works wonders for finger cuts.

It was originally developed as a wound sealer. Most 'liquid bandage' products are super glue + antiseptic.

That's so sensible.

I sold/donated all my furniture, TV's, and a ton of odds and ends over the weekend, filled a moving pod with the stuff I wanted to keep, hired a company called "Simply Sold" to fix up the house/landscaping/etc to prep it for sale, handed the house keys to my Realtor and hit the road. I'm in a hotel in Jackson, MS right now, Atlanta tomorrow. Start work on Monday.

While watching a video on Youtube about the staff of The Young Turks commenting on some questionable comments Gary Oldman made in an interview with Playboy magazine, they made a comment, that I replied to in my head.

It was "as Big MacIntosh would say, ayup." Yep. I thought of a My Little Pony character in a video with absolutely no relation to show. Should I pony up my avatar now?

The :ff: inspired Marginalia Book Club is already a success. We kicked it off last Wednesday at the Summer Reading Club kick-off. Every person who signed up for the Adult Summer Reading Club that night took a book with them. On Thursday at 6:00pm there were three of the nine books left. At 6:12 there was one left. I got permission to add two more titles and one more copy of each, for a total now of twenty books. We still haven't had any returned so we don't know how the margin comments will turn out, but so far all the feed back is positive.

That's the good news. The bad news is that I'm attending a library conference in Vegas this weekend and what I laughingly call my good foot has decided to start hurting. It started last Friday night when I made the mistake of trying to walk down stairs barefoot. I got two steps down, got a shooting pan and ran back for my shoes. The pain came and went the next day, mostly dull but sometimes stabbing. I didn't notice it Sunday or Monday, but yesterday and today it's back and I'm really getting worried. There is a metric shit-ton of walking at Conference and I have no idea how I'll manage. Wish me luck.

Hopefully the pain will disappear just as inexplicably as it turned up in the first place, Janet. I know what it's like.

Random aches and pains pop up and vanish in my body all the time. The irregularly occurring ones in my right ankle and my right wrist seem to have disappeared for good. They used to plague me for years. I'm pretty sure they were the result of injuries that I should have had looked at by doctors. Now I get nasty shit piping up randomly in my right big toe. Probably gout.

Physical pain is not nice, but I can deal with it. What I can't handle so well are the mental dives. They are truly torturous and sometimes it is really difficult not to succumb to one. Sometimes they totally ambush you. Surprise attacks really leave you at a disadvantage. All you can do is to hope that you can ride them out, but hope is in very short supply at precisely that time. Fucking sucks.

At other times you get a premonition of what is about to hit. That's a bit better. The armament is lots of activity. Do the laundry. If there's enough dirty clothing, wash a set of bed linen that's been stored in the cupboard for a long time. Groom the dog. She hates it, but she still loves you. Weed the garden with the speakers blasting glorious Bach through the back door. Post a lot of shit. Anything. Just do it.

Guess what I'm doing now, and why?
