Re: Video Games - Watcha playin'?
Whoa I made a biggish poast about Neverwinter as the open beta starts today and Windows ate it. I ain't typing it again.
But oh..my..god..the..lag. I'm going PvE right now and the lag is so bad that I'll execute a move and find myself on another part of the battlefield with no explanation of how I got there. Yikes.

Not sure who "Moyrainn CryptKicker" is. Please provide the player's handle. (e.g. "characterName@handle).
You can add me as @Strangerist whether I'm offline or as any character in any Cryptic game.

Re: Video Games - Watcha playin'?
I finally decided to stop flogging Skyrim and get another game. TESV whetted my appetite for playing a vampire but never really delivered. So despite all I hold unholy, I went with the vampire game that seemed to be rated highest, Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. Except for the Jyhad card game when it came out so many years ago, I've always avoided White Wolf's products. Mostly because of experiences with LARPers that put me off trying to learn anything about goth for well over a decade, and also because of Anne Rice. Regardless, I decided to give this game a try. I know WW's vampires aren't supposed to be goody goodies, though there are mechanisms to keep the bloody minded at bay. But at least it's set up to play as a monster, unlike Skyrim.
The game wouldn't run initially, but getting the patch (and undoing the compatibility mode that Google first pointed me to) got it running.
So far, I've created a character using the auto-generator questions thing and turned up as a Malkavian, the crazy ones I remember from the card game. That's probably not a good first character, but what the hell.
Apparently there is a problem with game resolution for newer computers but the unofficial patch has just downloaded. Hopefully now I can actually read signs. Otherwise, the lower graphics than the screenshots I've seen don't bother me.

Heh. I've still got my cards. Haven't played a game for over 15 years I guess, but still got 'em.

Wow, I never played that but came close to picking the video games up more than once. I demand updates on the game!

Re: Video Games - Watcha playin'?
The patch fixed the reolution problem. Good thing too as there are a bunch of clues to read as well as signs. And posters.Heh, I know some of these bands.
I did have to restart my character after installing the patch but there wasn't much ground to recover. Also I spent my skill points better this time. drained a cop dry and sold his nightstick at the pawnshop.

OK, that's like GTA with vampires. I'd play the shit out of that game.

Re: Video Games - Watcha playin'?
I think you have to walk a line between monster and hero, though. Too many rotten deeds and you run out of humanity points. Then when your blood counter gets low, berserko time. Not good when you can't be unmasked as a vampire. I didn't lose anything for the cop because of the location and he was armed.

Re: Video Games - Watcha playin'?
I too have almost picked up one of the Masquerade games but there were compatibility issues way back then. If Ymir likes it enough I might re-reconsider getting it. No pressure.

Re: Video Games - Watcha playin'?
OMG I AM IN A HAUNTED HOTEL! I had to take a break.
Seen a running woman that may be the ghost. Lights blowing out as I pass. That chandelier keeps shaking. I caught myself about to walk under it and heard it tinkling!
My love of ghost stories has always been strongly mixed with fear.

Re: Video Games - Watcha playin'?
Oh yeah. Ymir. If you want some nice super moody gothic horror, Amnesia is the way to go. It's like if an FPS and Myst had a really scary babby.
I too did not make it far into Amnesia.

Re: Video Games - Watcha playin'?
Oh and also. Neverwinter Gateway is a handy out of game utility to access not only your character(s) stats and what all, but you can actually get some business done!

It's buggy as hell, though. I can't get it to log in at all now yet the servers are still up.

I had to relax my security a bit so it could keep some cookies on mah machine. That's different from the bugginess you report though. It works for me.
