Tablet American Humanist Association offers free online membership

This is almost a secret; the official announcement is not out yet, but the beta testing has begun. The American Humanist Association, the nation's largest and oldest group for nontheists, is creating a new, free, online-only membership opportunity.

Go to the AHA site: American Humanist Association

In the orange area of the banner at the top of the page, click "New! FREE Online Membership." Registration is not limited to US citizens. There is an area for "Referred by," you can list me by name, Janice Rael. This will create your registration.

Some of the features for the AHA's free online membership are not yet up and running, but since they are accepting registrations now, jump in!

I'm a regular, dues-paying member of AHA, and I love their magazine, The Humanist.

When I get more details about the benefits of the free online AHA membership, I'll let you know. The official announcement should be out soon.

The AHA's official announcement is out!

Challenge the dangerous influence of the Religious Right …

Join the nation’s oldest and most dynamic humanist organization …

ALL FOR FREE!

The American Humanist Association now offers Free Online-Only Membership, connecting you to our organization, our network of over 100 humanist chapters and affiliates, and thousands of committed, engaged humanists who share your outlook and values.

Online Members receive:
  • Exclusive access to the Humanist magazine and Free Mind newsletter online.
  • Action Alerts on how you can make a difference on church-state separation, reproductive rights, civil liberties, and other issues of concern to humanists.
  • Quarterly mailed updates on AHA activities and projects.
  • Discounts on books and merchandise from Humanist Press.
  • The AHA works hard for humanism. We staunchly oppose the teaching of ‘intelligent design’ over evolution in public school classrooms. Humanism as an ethical 'lifestance'? That sounds like something the Brights would come up with. :shudder:

There's only so many synonyms in the thesaurus, I suppose.

I joined up, I've always been immersed in humanism ideas and been curious about AHA for a while so it's a perfect opportunity for me to learn more about it.

Other than their silly dogma ("ethical lifestance" as vm points out) I object to the American Humanists for co-opting a word that once referred to such religious thinkers as Erasmus and Saint Thomas More.
