I think vm's instinct on not going nuts with the special roles is a good one. I'd rather get a game under my belt before the variables start multiplying. Mindfucking via PM is something I'd like to explore in a later game, however.

I think I agree with liv on the PM's. Part of the fun the first game, for me anyway, was watching all the paranoia and suspicion in the thread itself. bear in mind, though, that both liv and I were mafia, so maybe our opinions are skewed by that.

I also agree with vm on the idea of limiting special roles while people get the hang of the basic game. Mafia, cop, doctor, vigilante, sounds good to me, although I also wouldn't be opposed to a Masonic lodge.

Whatever vm decides is cool, though. I'm ready for some lynchin'.

Maybe 2 mob each, both with the power to recruit 1 none mafia to their side -- learning the ID of one of the other mafia if they try to recruit the wrong person...

If we added a three mason group we could exchange the vigilante for a serial killer. We could also have two cops, but one paranoid or insane. 3-4 mafia would be good for the game, or three mafia with one being the mafia godfather.
