Default That which I have actually gotten done today

At breakfast.
Did 1 load of laundry.
Ate lunch.
Doomscrolled on Twitter.
Doomscrolled on Facebook.
Doomscrolled on Instagram.
Looked at a couple of forums I am known to infest.
DIY body work on the car. That involved removing rusted areas of a rocker panel, grinding and sanding, spraying liberally with alleged "rust convertor", fitting galvanized steel sheets into position, inserting some stainless steel screen in strategic locations, and applying body filler. That is phase 1. Phase 2 another day.
Got 90% of the body filler off of my fingers, so far.
Took a nap.
Doomscrolled on Twitter.
Doomscrolled on Facebook.
Doomscrolled on Instagram.
Looked at a couple of forums I am known to infest.
Ate dinner.
Doomscrolled on Twitter.
Doomscrolled on Facebook.
Doomscrolled on Instagram.
Looked at a couple of forums I am known to infest. I am looking at one right now.

So far today has looked like a DO LOOP in BASIC.

Replaced ancient wiring from telephone jack to panel, to fix what I fixed the last time I fixed it. It works now, all of the spammers will be happy.

It's interesting...there is telephone line in this house from 1938 when it was built, and it is multi-strand, heavy enough to carry 110 volt electricity. Telephone wiring from the 1970s is much thinner copper wire, single strand. Wiring now is thinner and it's damned difficult to strip off the insulation.

So what I thought were very robust telephone lines are actually remnants of a Dictograph Fire Detective System that was wired throughout the house long ago. I have one of the things that was part of it. Dome shaped unit that the wires connected into. There were probably more of them. Now I am quite curious about it.

Awoke alive
Got to work and put in a productive 8 hrs earning me 81 hundred steps and some change. Need to work on that
Clocked out drove to a friends house 30 minutes outside of town to help her with her sweet and funny mom who has dementia. She watches Monk during waking hours.
Started reading a book called Compications about the power and limits of medicine written by a doctor.
And through it all scrolled through various news headlines, leaving me empty and inconsolable.

I like this thread.

Today's escapades:

4 meetings, 2 of them useless wastes of my time

Got 2 charts and graphs assemblages done--there are 7 to go--the one in progress has 14 panels on it and will be unreadable when shrunk to 8.5" x 11"

Ate half a can of mixed nuts

Ate 3 burritos for dinner

Now switching between doomscrolling and infesting online forums

Spent some time in emails saying what amounted to "No" to a couple of executives, I guess in a perverse attempt to bug them a bit before agreeing to what they want. Kind of amusing to observe people puff themselves up like simians are wont to do. What can I say, it is Friday and I was up to here with the posturing I've been dealing with.

Conducted a couple of employee reviews.

Uploaded files to a website.

Made some charts in PowerPoint.

Some other unremarkable office stuff.

I cannot believe the amount of stuff I got done this weekend. Mom was here 5-6 weeks ago, and she's coming again on Tuesday, and I was like "oh shit, I have this weekend to do all the stuff I told her I would do." Including but not limited to:
  • Finish packing up Halloween/autumn decorations.
  • Finish hanging Christmas lights and indoor decor.
  • Wrap presents.
  • Clean out fridge and freezer and pantry.
  • Unpack and wash the rest of the "entertaining" dishes.
  • Finally rip out the stupid water-conditioning system from under the kitchen sync, and re-tighten all the hoses. Yay, we have cold water in the kitchen!
  • Wash guest room bedding and make bed. (still need to stuff the duvet in its cover)
  • Organize and halfway-empty the guest room closet so she can actually use it.
  • Finish touching up the paint on the furniture we painted last time.
  • Trim/prune persimmon trees (did 0.5 of 2 trees)

I did all this and still found time to go to a party on Saturday night. Thank the Lord for amphetamines. I don't know when the fuck I'm going to have time to go to the grocery store.

Drove 30 miles to the office.
Wore myself out setting up equipment.
Drove 30 miles home.
Drove to the car dealership.
Traded in my old car.
Drove home in a new car.
Got back online and worked some more. To help pay for that car and that TruCoat.

Assembled a new mailbox to replace the one that the snowplow smacked into oblivion.
Went to Home Depot to buy reflective number stickers. They were out of all of the numbers I need.
Took a nap.
Woke up.
Infesting forums.

Finished a 265-slide PowerPoint instructional "deck" that nobody is going to read.

Programmed some HTML/JavaScript/jQuery/Ajax/PHP/SQL thingamabobs. It is amazing how many hours I can burn fixing a problem caused by a misplaced semicolon.

Doomscrolling until sleepytime.

Took a 1.5 hour bus ride (in the dark) to Helsinki. Train to Malmi, in the suburbs. Visited the Maahanmuuttovirasto service point. Train back to city centre. Did big city stuff. Bus, now in the dark again, back home.

Drove to the office at 6:30 am, arrived there 7:00 am, packed equipment, left office at 8:45 am, stopped at Walmart to buy a USB cable, arrived home at 9:45 am, worked until 8:30 pm and now it's 9:00 pm and I need a bedtime snack, what do you suggest.

This guarantees a foot of snow in May.

I got the Chassis/motor battery replaced on the RV, and verified that the house battery set suffered no damage during the weeks of subzero temps we suffered through this winter.

The Mrs is finally recovering from a rather severe case of Shingles and we can begin planning our trip schedule for the summer.
So, I've completed planning for the first run of the season: A wedding up near Portland. 5 days with total change in altitude from starting at 4000ft, up to 9000 ft at the highest point, and down to to Sea Level.
Didn't realize how much near Desert terrain there is between Denver and Portland.

Mowed the lawn. While mowing, I reminded myself not to run over the sewer standpipe.

Ran over the sewer standpipe, thoroughly demolishing the cap on it.

Went to Home Depot and bought a replacement cap.

All is well. It's as if if never happened.

Tomorrow I will put something there to keep me from doing that again.

We got up early and went to the flea market. We have lived here almost 9 years and it's the first time we've gone.

Berryessa Flea Market | San Jose EST. 1960

It's free if you get there before 8, and so we went early and had coffee. There was tons of parking and almost no one there, it was pretty ideal. Walked around for an hour, bought some tupperware and produce. Home by 10, produce washed and prepped, and ready to face the day.

Woke up with an unpleasant headache, so today is mostly a waste, but yesterday the kids and I got out of the house and went to visit my brother's book store on Independent Bookstore day. Then we ate lunch in a falafel place which makes their own pitas. I also sanded and stained the ukulele stand I put together last weekend.

Cooked breakfast. Scrambled eggs. Because I can't cook eggs without resorting to scrambling them.

Gathered fallen sticks in the yard and piled them up so they can be more efficiently scattered across the yard.

Got the rototiller out to till the garden. Rototiller would not start. I tried this, I tried that. Pulled the rope many times. Nothing. There is an I | O switch on it. I couldn't remember if the I side should be pressed or the O side. Tried it both ways. Nothing. Went in the house to find the manual. Couldn't find the manual. Looked for it online. Nowhere in the manual is that switch mentioned. Found a Redditt discussion about I | O switches. Went back outside. Pressed the I side. Pulled the rope. Tiller started immediately.

I tilled the garden. Ran over a wooden tomato stake which the tiller fired back at me like a hardware Van Helsing in a Hammer film. It missed. I finished tilling the garden.

Then I mowed the back field since I had the mower out anyway. I need to have that field leveled, it's full of potholes.

I put the mower away. Now I am trying to figure out what to burn for dinner.
