Alert Super important Jeopardy-related question it gets its own thrad

Hey Janet or anybody, help us please! The stupid convention fucked up our DVR so we only got the first 20 minutes of yesterday's episode. We saw the last question of Double Jeopardy where Pranjal said Harry Potter 7, and Alex said no. Then Monika said Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and Alex said no. Then I swear I heard on mic Monika say "it was the last one" and Pranjal freaking raises his hand. Then Alex says they'll look into it or whatever over the commercials and our fucking DVR cuts out! :gah:

So what happened? If I'm the judge, Pranjal gets credit for the right answer, and Monika gets her wager back.

What was the answer?

I mean, there isn't a "Harry Potter 7" there's the 7th movie, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1" just to be pedantic.

It was the book and Deathly Hallows was the correct answer. Alex said he didn't know if that was the 7th book, but it is, so what does that mean for their scores?

It's just you would think Alex would say be more specific, or look at the judges for guidance, but he jumped on the no with a quickness. Plus why wasn't that on the card?

So bey found online that Pranjal didn't get the money, which surprised me just cuz of what Alex said before the break about he doesn't know if it was the right book. That gave me the impression that if it was, he would get the points, but then Alex is the host, not a judge, so OK.

Haven't heard about Monika though. I really feel like she should get her points back. I could imagine that when she hit that buzzer she was all prepared to say "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows", but then she heard Alex say no to Pranjal's answer. They both know it's the 7th book, so real quick she changes her answer to the 6th book and gets it wrong. That's bullshit!

In the past I have seen them return lost points to the second person after ruling in favor of the first person (even if the second person got it totally wrong), because they never could have buzzed in if the first person had gotten it right in real time. I can see how that might not apply if they ruled against the first person after review, but in this case I really think it should.

That should take you right to the comment. I worked until 8:00 last night, so I didn't see, but there is always a Jeopardy! recap in the comments on What's On Tonight on the AV Club.

Damn, your answer is not there. Pooh! I'll ask my sister and get back to you. Pretty sure she DVRs it.

I don't know how you linked right to the comment, but close enough. I guess she didn't get the money. :sadcheer:

I blame Alex. He was way too quick with the "no" to Pranjal's answer.

I got the link directly to the comment by using the Disqus one, but that probably worked because I was logged in.

I agree in blaming Alex. It's usually all his fault.
