Pelosi: "We Have to Pass the Bill So That You Can Find Out What Is In It"
Hey, so why is health-care taxed?

If I don't want foreign invasion insurance, am I allowed to not pay taxes to pay for the military?
Probably enough Americans would gladly contribute to the military anyway, so it would probably be a pretty good deal for me. Extra money in my pocket, and no trade off really.
If I don't want foreign invasion insurance, am I allowed to not pay taxes to pay for the military?
The proper analogy would be the government requiring you to hire a private company to provide you with security.

Why is what working class people spend on health-care taxed?
If they really wanted to make health care more affordable, they would stop taxing those with the least ability to pay.

I called the local office but there was a menu of three functionaries and I didn't really know who to address my voting preference to. I called the DC office and the mailbox was full.

Should not 100% of healthcare costs be tax deductible?
There's a medical expenses deduction in the IRC, but it's pretty goddamn lame. For most people it only kicks in if 10% or more of their adjusted gross income goes to unreimbursed medical expenses.
As long as we're taking half-measures approaches to heath care rather than doing what actually needs to be done - and clearly, that's all we're ever gonna see in this here country - I'd favor shitcanning the current deduction entirely and replacing it with a 100% tax credit under which every penny spent on unreimbursed medical expenses reduces income tax liability by the same amount.

I emailed my rep to vote no on repeal and replace.
Our U.S. Rep needs no encouragement whatsoever to vote against shit like this, but our U.S. Senators are a wingnut and blue dog who have well and truly earned the loud, angry voice mail messages they're no doubt getting.
I was originally gonna say I felt bad for the wingnuts' staffers, but nah. Fuck 'em. Fuck 'em right in the ear.

There must be a word for the specific type of amusement that one feels while watching a bumfight between two or more bums, where the observer is entirely aware that the winning bum will go on to do huge damage to tens of millions of people, but also finds that the bumfight itself is still entertaining.
Paul Ryan is going under the bus. Already has. Trump has already taken over his duties as Speaker of the House today. Somewhere John Boehner is spilling his drink from laughing so hard.
Democrats may be to blame for the health care system being a steaming pile of fail right now, but the demise of the flaccid attempt at tweaking Obamacare instead of just repealing it outright is all on the Speaker Ryan and President Trump.
President Trump disagrees.
Of course he does.
Steaming pile? Fuck you!, but okay, moving on.
Quote:
Trump told reporters Friday that he would be “open to it” if Democrats wanted to work on a bipartisan measure. He predicted the current law would soon collapse.
The president says he has a great relationship with the Republican Party and isn’t going to speak badly about GOP lawmakers. Still, he said he was a little surprised by the bill’s rejection from the conservatives in the House Freedom Caucus.
Trump also said he “never said repeal and replace it within 64 days,” though he repeatedly promised during the campaign to do it on Day One of his term.
Even they can't overlook the obvious big fucking liar.
Now from The Hill
Quote:
President Trump on Friday blamed Democrats, not Republicans, for the stunning collapse of the GOP healthcare plan.
“We were very close, it was a very tight margin. We had no Democrat support, no votes from the Democrats,” Trump said, flanked by Vice President Pence and Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price in the Oval Office.
“I think the losers are Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer because now they own ObamaCare,” the president added, referring to the House and Senate Democratic leaders.
The buck stops over there somewhere.

And suddenly he's a liberal! /snark

Maybe this will finally kill the shambling zombie corpse of Trumpcare dead for good. Really powerful moment.
