Default When it's your turn...

I heard the voice of redemption
For me there is no exemption
I heard the voice of satisfaction
Needing me for benefaction
I started pleading

I heard the bells begin to chime
Warning me oh lord
Don't let this be my time
Don't let this be my time

I was there for you, when you walk through fire
I was there for you, when the flames got higher
When nothing fit and nothing seemed right
Till the very last breath of my life, I was there for you

I saw you slide, I saw saw fall
I kept my pride through it all
You started screaming

When skies are dark, no sun shines through
I know I see the light in you
You stopped dreaming and started believing

In your hour of need
I was there
Now it's time for you to be there for me too

But you're not

Sorry, but I'm feeling a bit melancholic this night. I wondered if anyone had ever felt this way. Can you be there for someone like that again?

I am sorry you're feeling down :(

Yes, I have been there for people who have let me down later. I have found that if I tell them what I am going through and what I need from them though, they often will come through. It's not always a matter of them not wanting to be there, but not recognizing that you need them.

That's true - "Wow, I never realised you felt that way, you seemed fine"

Hi Gawen. Being there for someone is not a simple yes/no - you need to be aware of the problems, you need to have sufficient resources yourself (I mean a person in a depressed or angry phase isn't always able to be supportive), and most of all, assuming you have the intention, you need to look after yourself while supporting: not to feel bad if you seem not to be getting through.

Don't know if this relates to the situation you find yourself in.

Thanks Lady Shea, JoeP. But...I was just remembering...days of old. Every now and then something will yank me back to less then wonderful days. I'm sure you have felt it once or twice yourselves. So I was moved to say something here. Kinda felt better after doing it...yet felt rather foolish doing it too...*chucklin*

Seeya later...*wavin and smilin*

Oh please don't feel foolish, it was a great, if sad, piece of writing.

I imagined Amy Lee (Evanescence) singing it

Indeed, don't feel foolish...

Yes, I've been there and bought the teeshirt. I also spent way too much time resenting it.

Then, I was lucky enough to find somebody who _was_ there for me, again and again. For nearly twenty years. And I was there for her...to the end.

Do I ever miss that.

I hope you find, or have found, such since.

Melancholy is a way of life for me of late. I wallow in it daily...it's part of the grieving process.

I'm sorry of your loss Godfry. I didn't know. I'm hoping your grieving subsides soon. Anything I can do to help........

My bit of melancholia was brought on by self-pity.
I feel about this...*holding my thumb and forefinger close together*....big.

Aww, don't worry about it. Been feeling that way a decent amount myself lately. Happens to the best of us, unfortunately. Just don't let it get you too far down. *lots of hugs*

What Rollie sez.

Don't let it get you too down. And don't let me get you down. I suspect you'll get your chance. I used to have long sessions like those you described. Then I was lucky... Hey, I wouldn't give up those twenty years for anything. True love is a wondrous thing.

I keep running across this quote. I even posted it over my desk at work....

"Dance like no one is watching,
sing like nobody is listening,
love like you've never been hurt,
and live like it's paradise on earth."

It's been attributed to everybody from Mark Twain to Satchel Page.

It sure beats the hell outta suffering for pie in the sky when you die.

Keep singin', dancin' and lovin'.

This version is clearly attributable to Dilbert:

Dance like it hurts
Love like you need the money
Work when people are watching

Heh... Yep, I've seen that one, too.

When I dance, it does look like it hurts.

"Love like you need the money" sounds like my MIL.

"Work when people are watching" sounds like most of my coworkers.

Note that I did not choose the version with the "Work like you don't need the money" because I think that's advice leading to termination.
