Default Funny, weird movie credits

After watching the movie “Jerry Maguire” recently and scanning the credits, I had noticed that there was the usual movie disclaimer about how all the characters are fictional and any resemblance to actual people in real life is purely coincidental.

That did not make sense though for this movie, since it starred many athletes and celebrities appearing as themselves. Has anyone ever noticed this on any other movie where actors/celebrities appear as themselves? Do those include the same contradictory disclaimer?

More importantly---is there anyone I can sue about this?

On a broader topic though…

Does anyone have any particularly favorite and notable movie credits? “Meet the Fockers” with Ben Stiller was good, as was “Hot Shots” with Charlie Sheen (they posted brownie recipes, for instance, between the names). The “Nutty Professor” with Eddie Murphy had good gags and outtakes.

Others?

Brian

I loved the Toy Story credits with the "outtakes".

Hmm... Interesting question. My knee-jerk reaction is to say I've seen that disclaimer on every movie, even when people played themselves, but I can't confirm or deny until I get home. If I'm wrong I'll totally sue you, Brian, just FYI.

I thought the ending credits of "There's Something About Mary" were the best part of the movie.

Does anyone here own "Being John Malkovich?" It would be bizarre if they had the disclaimer in that one too. A major plot element is that John Malkovich is playing himself in the movie (as does Charlie Sheen...and that is all I can recall).

Airplane, I think, kicked off a lot of that.

Out-takes during the credits are common, and entertaining. I think Cannonball Run kicked that trend off, you'll also see it in most Jackie Chan movies, Dukes of Hazzard...

Down Periscope was a bit different, they had the cast singing 'In the Navy' (Village People)

Was it Airplane that listed 'worst boy' as Hitler?

I checked my dvd of "Gandhi" and it fortunately did not include any disclaimer that everything in the movie is fictional. It was probably just a fluke on "Jerry Maguire."

I almost never watch the credits, but you make a great point. I checked my copy of Being John Malkovich, and sure enough:

Quote:
The story, all names, characters and incidents portrayed in this production are fictitious. No identification with actual persons, places, buildings and products is intended or should be inferred.
Thanks for inspiring me to check that, btw. Watching the credits roll to the tune of Bjork singing Amphibian confirmed that there isn't a second of that film I don't love.

Damn, beaten to it.

The Pixar movies with outtakes--Toy Story, Monster's Inc, Bug's Life. Too bad they didn't do it for Nemo or the Incredibles.
