Here's an idea for a mouth-watering thread! What are your favorite dishes?

For dessert, I love Mango and sticky sweet rice from Thai restaurants. The mango is so fresh and bold with its flavor, while the sweet sitcky rice must have coconut milk in it. I'm a sucker for coconut milk. The combination of the sweet and the not sweet (I don't know how to describe mango. It's not sweet, really, but not sour, salty or bitter either) is divine.

On the less sophisticated side of things, for my money, I can't beat a packet of hot chocolate for dessert at home. I mean just the powder. I just bust out a spoon and eat the powder and it gets me my chocolate fix for the day!

I'll do favorite dishes for other meals when I think of them. Desserts on my mind right now!

Oh their God, there are too many to mention. Here's a short list of whatever springs to mind right now:

Insalata caprese (tomatoes, buffalo mozz, basil, some olive oil and pepper.. heaven)
Moules frites (even though I've gotten food poisoning from questionable moules twice, I persist)
OYSTERS, raw, with lemon
Chicken vindaloo
Mee krob
Lemon meringue pie
In-N-Out cheeseburgers
Bacon cheeseburgers from Bruno's Hotel and Restaurant in Gerlach, Nevada, when Burning Man is over and I've been living on Tasty Bite brand instant Indian food for a week straight
Osso buco, provided the chef knows what s/he is doing
St Louis ribs, provided the barbecuista knows what s/he is doing
Homemade mac-a-cheese
Arugula with oil and vinegar and black pepper
Tom kha gai, that excellent funky Thai chicken-and-coconut-milk soup
Pho, that excellent funky Vietnamese beef noodle soup
German chocolate cake made by my mom
Pot roast made by me
French dip sandwiches from Phillippes in Los Angeles -- one of the many things I miss about that wonderful city

It doesn't matter when I stop, I won't ever have even come close to scratching the surface.

Mmm... I don't have a favorite dish yet, having only started to appreciate food in the last year. However, just last week I went to a Thai restaurant where I had both Tom Kha soup and the sticky rice with mangoes for dessert, and I wish I had both right now.

When we were in Chicago recently, Jeff took me out to a special dinner for my birthday. I've always wanted to do one of those Chef's menus with wine pairings and it was really fun! I was so drunk by the end and I was seriously concerned about throwing up if I tried to stand up, I was so full, so we had to sit there a little longer.

Anyway, our favorite part of the meal was the second course. I don't know if it had a name, but here's what it was composed of:
On the bottom layer, poi, but not plain poi, it was some flavor that was warm and comforting, and slightly baked/crispy.
On top was mackerel, slightly salty, very flaky and warm.
On top of that was a pineapple sauce. Not too powerful, but definitely there.

The great part was each item had a distinct texture and flavor. The sweet, salty and bitter were so perfect together, it was like an orgasm in my mouth! I never thought I would like anything with poi in it...

Yes, I've heard it's salty.

Yeah so anyway... I went to this French place in downtown Chicago a few years ago. Best. Food. Ever. The several hundred dollar bill the four of us ran up (with deep discounts 'cause the waitress was a friend) worth every penny. Unfortunately I was so drunk before we even got there I don't remember a thing we ate, and for all I know Taco Bell would've ranked as high in that condition.

My favorite dish is Corelle, by Corning. Microwaveable. Beautiful with tasteful patterns around the rim. Nice. Inexpensive. Last forever.
