I only see Jerome's posts when other people quote them for obvious reasons, but I feel like pointing out that it is sheer hysteria to claim that banning somebody from a privately owned message board is "fascism". It has nothing to do with fascism. A message board is private property. It is not owned by the government. The owners of the message board are providing a platform for others to speak - at their own expense, I may point out - and they are not obligated to do this for anyone. It's roughly comparable to owning a house. You're not legally obligated to let anyone into your house. If somebody shits all over the walls, you wouldn't let them stay, and no one would judge you for doing this. Apparently, however, kicking somebody off of a privately owned message board for being a shithead is just like Mussolini. Obviously, banning people for arbitrary reasons is still dumb, but banning somebody for a lengthy history of shitposting is not at all arbitrary or dumb.
I'm agnostic on the idea of whether people like Jerome should be banned. I severely doubt his shitposts have convinced anyone of anything, particularly due to his lengthy history of pathologically lying, which is why I have him on ignore and only say things in response to him when somebody quotes him and I feel like I have something insightful to add to the things people have already said. However, people have been banned for crapflooding this message board before (latinjiral, for example, IIRC), and Jerome is certainly flooding the place with crap. Jerome has nearly twice as many posts in this thread as the second-highest poster - 435 versus 258. It's annoying to have to scroll past placeholders for posts that I'll never read, so if he gets banned it'll be less annoying for those of us who have him on ignore but still want the placeholders to show up for the sake of the users whose posts we do, occasionally, read.
It's not possible to have absolute free speech, at any rate. Allowing people to say anything at all leads to the possibility of a chilling effect due to harassment and so on, which is why we have laws against things like threats (or, in an unrelated case, shouting "fire" in a crowded theatre when there is no fire). So there's a balancing act to be made. I don't think Jerome's posts are actually inciting anyone to stop posting due to the fear of harassment, but they may be inciting people not to post because the percentage of shitposts to decent content is getting so high.

That is pretty much it for me. You have to wade through all his witless turd droppings, and you kind of have an epiphany: Why bother? Why bother posting on message boards at all, for that matter? And it does seem message boards have been in general declining in use, though I don't have any hard data to back this up beyond anecdotal. Certainly though it does seem that a number of really bright and interesting people, including the person who started this thread, no longer post here; and then when I log in and see the turds from Jerome, I just go, "ugggh!" Sort of like when a woman sees Donald Trump.
I don't support banning but it would be nice if there was a way to prevent the row of shit posts. Some forums have a feature that auto combines posts made by one user in a row, into one.
While the inane content and clearly false claims don't really bother me, I have been considering adding Jerome to ignore because the stacks of 5 or 6 posts all in a row do.
You don't have to scroll past placeholders, The Man. You can turn them off. Click on User Tools underneath the forum header, then click Edit Options. Jerome's shitfloods are annoying and if I thought he would give a rat's ass about anyone else or the health of the forum he thanked me in my birthday thread for co-creating, I would ask him to at least make a minimum effort to condense his memes and propoganda so as to make the thread more readable. I don't believe he does, however, so it seems futile.
Nor do I believe he is the reason anyone has left this forum. I suspect by the figures alone, over the years more people have left because they disagreed with something I said or an admin position I took. LadyShea, who started this thread, certainly isn't absent because of him. She'd be the last person to advocate his banning.
