Kim Davis who?

Kim Davis, the social injustice warrior and job-shirker (and therefore right wing hero), met the Pope last year, and apparently the Pope isn't happy about it:

Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò is a staunch conservative and was vocally opposed to same-sex marriage throughout his five-year tenure as the Vatican’s nuncio (ambassador) to the United States.

He also sent an anonymous invite to Ms. Kim Davis, of anti-equality fame, to the Pope’s DC visit. While people, here and elsewhere, initially thought this was a coup for Davis and bigotry, Pope Francis turned the other cheek.

And now word comes that the incident is prompting The Vatican to replace Vigano.

This Pope is a better person than the last few. That's not saying much, but I'll take what I can get when it comes to Catholic leaders.

He arranged for her to meet the Pope.

As I understand it, he arranged the Pope to meet her and the Pope didn't know who she was or why he was meeting her.

It was seen as a victory for the anti-gay marriage crowd. Not that Pope Francis is a gay rights advocate to begin with, but meeting with Kim Davis seemed to contradict some of his public statements.

But, it was mostly Archbishop Carlo manipulating the Pope for US political points. I suspect that's the reason he's being let go, rather than his anti-equality views.

An article I saw said that the only private audience the Pope had was with a former student and his same-sex partner. So not only did they trick him, but according to the Vatican, Kim Davis and Mat Staver lied about the nature of the meeting afterward.
