Awesome, but I am reminded of the Simpsons episode where they tried to make space missions more relevant to the average American. But then, most things remind me of a Simpsons episode.

Re: The Gallery of Awesome
Well, of course. Deep Space Homer is one of the greatest all time episodes, featuring the debut of the "I, for one, welcome our x overlords" meme, the super-intelligent chimps on rollerskates running NASA, Homer demanding that Bill Clinton tell him where he can find some Tang, Buzz Aldrin -- if that's his real name -- and last but certainly not least, the inanimate carbon rod.

Re: The Gallery of Awesome
Not to take away from the awesome (because how would that even be possible?) but I think the target audience for that poster was probably already on board, figuratively, with NASA to begin with. I know I was.

My god, are those real NASA astronauts dressed up in Starfleet uniforms? I'm about to die from the awesome.

Re: The Gallery of Awesome
I think this poster is even funnier:
Regarding the first: wouldn't you think that NASA people would know better than to mix Next Generation-era uniforms and a silhouette of the NX-01 version of the Enterprise? Even I noticed the discontinuity immediately, and I never watched Enterprise.
Cheers,
Michael

Re: The Gallery of Awesome
Where's the Enterprise silhouette? The one behind the emblem is the Space Shuttle on account of it's a Shuttle mission being posterized. Or are you making a joke that I didn't get 'cause I'm ? Probably the latter.

It's on the first poster you linked to.

Re: The Gallery of Awesome
Sorry, I should have been clearer. Regarding the first poster: I should have included that word.
The first poster clearly shows a silhouette of the NX-01, despite the fact that the astronauts are wearing Next-Generation-era uniforms.
Cheers,
Michael

NASA people may or may not be Star Tracks nerds, but i bet the ad agency peopel that probably designed that poster are not.

I wouldn't be too sure that's ad agency work. It's not exactly top-notch graphics.

Re: The Gallery of Awesome
What TLR and others have failed to recognize is that Expedition XXI is a NASA mission in which the space shuttle will slingshot around the moon.
As such, chronal displacement is to be expected.

That's not Judas. Newton is in Judas' place. I'm not sure who the dude on the right is supposed to be, but he's not in the original.
