Default Academic Study of Bisexuality, Queer theory, gender issues, etc

Um, this is a long shot here on :ff: but for all I know there might be some bisexual academics here, or scientist/scholar types who focus on bisexuality, gender, queer, and polyamory issues. I'm one of the few non-academics who joined this new "Academic Bi" listserv; I mentioned my past and current involvement with bi activism in my intro. But everyone else is a scholar or professor or author or lecturer and I'm just a former grassroots activist.

Anyway on the off chance that anyone here is interested in this, or knows someone who might be, please share this letter.

Quote:
We are very excited to help announce Academic Bi an International (English-language) Mailing List/Yahoo Group, started by a Bi-identified Israeli Academic and Activist for the Discussion of and the Exchange of Information and Ideas about Topics related to Bisexual Theory, Queer Theory and the Academic Study of Bisexuality, Pansexuality, Fluidity, et. al. Other things that would be appropriate to Post to the Group include but are not limited to:

o Calls for Submissions
o Internships
o Scholarships
o Requests for Participants in Studies
o RFP's
o Announcements of Publications of Works pertaining to the subject(s)

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/academic_bi/

We see this List as an important "Also" rather than as an "Instead of" some of the older more established Academic LGBT Lists where it is Very Important to also keep Bisexual voices and we hope that there will be MUCH Cross-pollination.

Could we also ask all of you to Please Circulate This Information Widely to ALL LGBT & "Straight-but-not-narrow" venues and people who might be interested and would find this Additional Venue to be a useful tool.

Thank you
There is already a call for study participants who are in mixed marriages where one spouse is bisexual and the other is heterosexual. I can post that one too if anyone cares.

My husband did not care. And we would be perfect for the study. Ah well.

Yes'm, here it is. I think you need to be legally married. Both spouses must agree to a phone interview. The study organizer asked me to repost the announcement, so I have permission.
Quote:
Are you in a Mixed Marriage?

Are you bisexual and is your spouse straight?

Mixed marriages are frequently referred to as
those that occur between bisexuals and
heterosexual persons.

Does this describe your marriage? Are you out
to your partner?

This research study, conducted with the permission of the Virginia
Polytechnic Institute & State University (Virginia Tech), will attempt to
better understand the experiences, challenges, and needs of mixed married
couples.

Your participation is completely voluntary, confidential, and can be
withdrawn by you at any time.

Participants will be asked to commit to a single interview, with their
married partner, where the will be asked a series of questions about the
nature of their relationship with their spouse. Questions will be personal in
nature and related to your marital relationship.

Interviews will be conducted at the convenience of the participants via
telephone.

Can you send your friend a link to this thread, or copy him/her on the announcement? Or do you think s/he would welcome an email from a stranger containing the announcement in the OP? Judging from the blog, your friend would be a good fit in this thinktank.

You could probably e-mail him the info if he hasn't heard of it already.
The study looks interesting too.

Thanks, I dropped him a line.

I wish I lived in San Fran and knew how to write grants, they just posted a sweet part-time job listing for a Grants Development Coordinator‏.
