If one were to toss a handful of pearls into still waters, each opalescent pebble would send its own ripples circling outward from the point of impact. Reaching for each other, these echoes of drowned jewels would crisscross, creating ephemeral peaks and troughs in each other’s paths, but never stopping their momentum toward some separate end, where their energy breaks as tiny waves on a far foreign shore.
