Re: Bedtime for Qhadhafi?
The main force from Zawiyah have reach Gergarish, check the map, it's still green on there...
The whole thing is crumbling so much faster than I'd even dared to hope.
They have liberated most of the east from within and have reached the west from without, the center is pretty much all Qadhafi has left and that is crumbling. They have been withdrawing forces from other areas to Bab al Aziziyah.

They have even captured the mobile phone company and internet providers so as to keep those lines open.

Re: Bedtime for Qhadhafi?
It's a matter of hours I think.
There might be a last stand at Sirte though.

Re: Bedtime for Qhadhafi?
I'll expect to see a special Dick Tater Family Helicopter Liftoff soon.
So, does the top Dick Tater have a 'casbah away from the casbah', or has the whackjob alienated everybody else enough to obviate the option of stashing and storing the nut?
ETA:...ahem...excuse me, Colonel Dick Tater.

Re: Bedtime for Qhadhafi?
I don't think he is in Tripoli. His last speeches were by mobile phone. There was a report that the call was traced to the Algerian border. Not sure if there is anything in it. I think he may be in Sirte.
Also reports that Saif Qadhafi has been caught. Not sure about that one either. Some war criminals have been caught: the commander of the troops in Zawiya for instance.
Oh and thousands of prisoners have been released. By their guards it is said, who hope for some forgiveness from their former prisoners.

Re: Bedtime for Qhadhafi?
Here's a map of the heart of town, they are on this map alreaedy.
The Western Mountain/Zawiya guys have reached the Ghot Alsha'ali prison on the left and the locals have taken the Mitiga airbase on the right. They are in the heart of town and i'm sure are spreading out all over it too.

They have reached the central square, Green Square (which they waste no time renaming Tahrir).

Re: Bedtime for Qhadhafi?
SkyNews Alex Crawford is getting close to the party in the center.
Al Jazeera English is slipping, nothing there on the live feed.
Though apparently Al Jazeera Arabic now seems to say Qadhafi has been captured.
Another report Qadhafi has been shot dead near Rixos hotel.

Re: Bedtime for Qhadhafi?
Khamis Brigade surrendered it is now reported (by AJA but hearing it on SkyNews). They are the real hardcore Qadhafi supporters headed by son Khamis.

Haha, Moussa Ibrahim still believes. Live on Sky and CNN now.
He's complaining how NATO has turned this peaceful city into a nightmare.
Sky has the party in the other window.

Re: Bedtime for Qhadhafi?
Qadhafi is holding another speech. He seems to have figured out that there are opposition forces in Tripoli. He is calling on towns and tribes to come to Tripoli to defend him.
Whatever, nobody is listening anymore. They are still partying in Tripoli (and in Benghazi and Nalut etc.).

Saadi Mohammed, another son, captured.
NATO is now bombing the walls of Bab al Aziziyah so the revolutionaries can get in there.

Re: Bedtime for Qhadhafi?
I am astonished how rapidly this is happening. I can't wait to see whether the rebels turn Qadafi over to the ICC, assuming he allows himself to be taken alive. In March I predicted that Qadafi would wind up with a bullet in his head, but I think I was wrong about that.
ETA: Rebels have Libyan state radio.
