Default A Confederacy of Dunces

Has anyone read A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole? I ran across its page at Wikipedia and it sounds interesting.

I've heard nothing but good things about it for years, but I haven't read it yet.

It's brilliant. It's the first book (after Asterix and Tin Tin) that I remember making me laugh so hard my stomach hurt.

I agree that there are brilliant passages in Confederacy of Dunces – some very funny parts (which I remember well, even though I read it a decade of more back). However, I wouldn’t call it a great novel. It has some very boring parts in it, too. And it’s sort of awkward and amateurish in places.

It’s worth reading, though.

I bought this book after seeing Billy Connolly recommend it in a recent TV program about him.

I'm really enjoying it. More shaking with laughter than I've obtained from reading in many years.

Highly recommended.

I used to always give people my copy of that book if I found out they hadn't read it.

It is very good, and almost everyone would like it.
