Maybe they were texting "OMG! The scenery here is magnificent!" Even so, it just seemed ... wrong.

They were probably looking up the number of search and rescue because the 5th person accidentally walked off the side of the mountain while texting.
I have a link to this funny vid of a girl falling into a fountain while texting. I'll tried to share it on Facebook, but couldn't find you.

It's totally a cesspoll(Facebook). I meanly keep to a group I made with 5 online friends. We engage tech news, productive activities and give each other moral support via Badges. The rest is family and old friends (Outside of the group). I've found that in Google +, being an open social network, you meet new people. I've meet some of the smartest people there. I've managed my circles pretty well. I love it. The privacy management is great as well.

Re: Bend Over, Facebook is Back
I don't know if I've posted about this before, but I've noticed that you can access pictures without being logged in and post static links to them that work. I found out a while back when I wanted to share a picture of my brother's Big Boy on the Gallery of Awesome. I've tested it a couple times since, and I'm a bit concerned about it.
I set my pictures to private, at least I think I do. When I just checked I couldn't find any privacy settings for pictures. I seem to recall you have to choose when you upload them. Anyway, I'm worried about it and will be very careful with what I upload in future.

Don't post anything on Facebook you wouldn't want the internet to see. Creepers have been known to do some bullshit and get into even so-called private albums of targets for their creepery.

I posted a picture with a custom privacy setting (relatives only) and tagged my MIL in the picture. The next day a stranger (someone on my MIL's friends list) had commented on the photo. Tagging her had opened the picture up to anyone with permissions to view pictures of her. I don't know if they fixed that hole.
The privacy on Facebook seems to only be as strong as the least attentive person on your friend list.

Re: Bend Over, Facebook is Back
Well, I just taught my sister how to use it and she was able to post a link to a forum and view it there despite having made the picture "friends only". One thing, it only worked in Firefox. When she tried to get the "view image" option for the static link in IE it wasn't enabled.
I already know not to put anything embarrassing on Facebook, or the internet period. Sure I swear like a sailor online, but there are no embarrassing pictures beyond bad childhood hair that anyone could post. It helps that I've never been drunk or disrobed in public.

The image could have been in firefox's cache. Try clearing the cache or viewing from a different computer.

Re: Bend Over, Facebook is Back
I tried the cache thing. I came back here another day and made sure I could still see the Big Boy picture before I posted. My sister will have to check hers without me because it's also posted somewhere she needs to log in to see.

Re: Bend Over, Facebook is Back
What bothers me is the advertising. Specifically when it is targeting things I am reading completely unrelated to FB, like . I can't read a thread on about Elder Scrolls without FB telling me I need to go like the page and order stuff about Oblivion.

If you use Adblock, it can shut down Facebook's ability to track you on other sites.

Re: Bend Over, Facebook is Back
Thanks for that. In other news, Facebook is completely screwing pages now and the backlash is starting. Hey, Facebook, I want my friends back.

What a bunch of s. Do they realize they can shrink faster than they grew? Although they have certainly learned that a large number of their users will put up with a lot of crap. I'm not sure paying users will be as willing.

At this point, they should simply rename themselves Evil Fuckers. At least they'd be honest about what they intend. I am so glad I have nothing to do with that disgusting site.

I use AdBlock Plus, Fluff-Busting Purity (for Facebook), and PrivacyChoice TrackerBlock. Unfortunately, the last one seems to disable Disqus comments - which is what many blogs use.
