I finally got to see the movie "A Christmas Story" a couple of days ago. I'd heard Americans going on about it, so I ordered the DVD. It's never been released in Europe (as far as I know) and never been on TV here. The DVD didn't arrive in time for Christmas though.

The DVD was region 1 NTSC. It was the first time I'd tried one of these on the DVD player/recorder under my telly. I had to enter the ridiculously complicated code: 0000000 to make my DVD unit region free forever. Why the fuck do they even bother with this region crap? :fuming:

And my telly just played the NTSC like it was born to it (though we normally use PAL here).

And the movie was okay I guess. I suppose the reason it's not shown here in Europe is that it's really for usa-ians to get all sentimental over the way their Christmases used to be. I shall watch it again though, next Christmas.
