Every now and then, you have to do something a bit odd.

Those WWII gear changes are a bitch.

We also got to drive this a bit.

You won't believe how many people will drive down the street and apparently not notice the tank driving next to them.

It's official. I've broken my immune system. :sadcheer:

I had a biopsy done last Thursday, and got the lab results today. Got a rare autoimmune disorder. Something like 1 in a million, mostly females over 40. Not much research and no cure. Don't know much of anything else yet, or what kind of therapy they will recommend.

awwwwww....krap!

Just finished up at the community college. Finished my last class there with a B+, and now it's on to RIT to pursue an electrical engineering degree. I finished the CC with a 3.459 GPA. Mrs Shake says I should round that up and say I got a 3.5, but whatever. I just needed that degree (AS in Engineering Science) to get into the BSEE program. Only 20 classes stand between me and that degree.

And in other news, Mrs Shake is getting really big now, especially since we're just passed 31 weeks. Her doc says she shouldn't expect to go much past 37 weeks, the way things are looking. That'd be fine with her as she's quite uncomfortable, but is taking it better now that she's been pulled from work. I don't think she's quite officially on bedrest, but they really don't want her doing much. Not even any extra walking, as they usually recommend to women pregnant with just one child. I'll be glad to have her help back again, just doing normal things around the house. Both her mom and dad have been around to help us out, but I'm still doing a lot more than I used to, so this has been tiring on me, too.

My daughter had to have emergency surgery yesterday afternoon.

She had to have her appendix removed.

She's resting now, came through the surgery fine and SHOULD get to go home today.

It's been LONNNNNGGGGG.....ROUGH past 24 hours.

As soon as she's allowed to go home, I'm going to first get her situated, then go to my make-shift apartment and crash hard for at least 24 hours.

I've decided I have to take a break from :ff: for a while. I don't know when I'll be back. Anyone that wants to can email me. It may take me a few days to respond, but I will respond to each and all that do contact me.

Thanks,

Due date for baby Inara came and went yesterday. Would have been cool if she were born on Father's Day, but she's a'not a'comin' out until she's damn good and ready.

:baby:

Mrs. KA is very much ready though...

A little over 90 minutes ago I was offered, and accepted, the promotion. This will likely spell the end of my daytime forays into :ff:, but while I hate change, I do need it. Effectively in all likelihood on 06/30/08.

I'm hoping for a transfer to our Oak Ridge office. While I was investigating the possibility of transferring within the company to either California or Alaska, it was brought up to me today if I'd be interested in transferring to Oak Ridge on a "temporary" work assignment...yah...right...I know FIRST HAND how those "tmporary" work assignments turn out....

They're all one-way tickets and can't say I'm upset about it all...

A new city, a new job assignment, a new project, a fresh start....

Only 2 hours away from here. I'll still be close enough to spend the weekends with my boys and my manager here will be rid of his "red-headed stepchild" he had no clue what to do with...

BUT...YOU FAILED AT TRYING TO RAILROAD ME OR TO GET ME SO FRUSTRATED I WOULD JUST QUIT...didn't yah?

If all goes well, it'll come back a "yes" from the client tomorrow, and I'll be setting up shop in Oak Ridge, TN next week....

:woohoo:

Horse Girl graduated Grade 8 tonight. I feel so old, I can't believe I have a daughter going into high school.

It was quite the affair ~ nothing like I had in Grade 8, they sure get carried away these days with flowers, speeches, slideshows, presents for the teachers, a banquet hall, some kids came in Limos.

I don't think I did as much for my Grade 12 grad as she just did for her Grade 8.

Anyway, I'm suddenly old, very very old. :sniff:

I started training for a new part-time Real Lawyer job today!

(Strangely enough, for about a third the amount of time at work as my last Real Lawyer job, I will make about half the pay.)

Now I have to go study!

My son finally got into a pre-school!

At last :asleep:!

Downside, it is in the afternoon. Guess I am going to go to work instead, or learn to nap again.

Oh and he finally found out what a potty is for, just in time for preschool!

Passed the FAA theoretical exam for the private pilot's license today. They only test you on about 10% of the stuff they want you to know. The problem is that they don't tell you which 10% they're going to test you on that day. Cunning bastards.

On to the practical test.

This one it not looking so good either. Seller's bank has until the end of this week to approve/disapprove the sale.

Interest rates are back up, %6.625 IIRC on the paperwork. Also due to the crack down in the mortgage industry lender's will not consider a loan unless you can put down 10%.

That I could do, but it doesn't leave much for incidentals such as repairs or furnishings. FHA still only requiring 3% down, but that is where the higher interest rates comes from and some repairs will need to be made (coming out of my pocket as the seller is selling AS IS).

All in all with housing prices continuing to fall in this area with no real end in sight, I'm beginning to wonder if I shouldn't hold off for a little while.

Got back from the Republic of Ireland on Thursday. Met my Mum, her husband, my three half-sisters, my niece, my five uncles and their wives and assorted cousins. Had a phenomenal time. Didn't want to come back. Count and I are seriously considering moving there after we get our degrees.

I might resurrect my Stephan thread for this one. My life just changed. A lot.
