Oh and funny story I think you will appreciate, Crumb.

So, Contra picked up on a breadcrumb in Chunk's first PM. Something about sharing a pint of grog together, which I missed. That was his intro into infiltrating the grognards.

A few days into the game, Chunks grew suspicious of Contra and asked him what the full name of the society was. I got a text from Contra while he was at work, going OMG! What could it be? Help! So I jumped on Onelook.com to run a search with grog* and *grog. Of all the results I had to ask myself, which is the most Crumbesque? Which would he pick? So I told C to run with Grognard and it worked! I was beyond tickled with that.

I have learned a few things about running and setting up the game. I don't think I would have a team of four again, or if I would have people sharing two societies. In this game I just let the randomness fall where it would. I didn't really consider how big of an advantage a four person team would be. I just based the teams on how many people we had.

That is funny. He also would have got it if he looked at the game threads I linked to. I pulled that straight from BGG.

For a while, I was operating under the assumption that all the society names were Simpsons references, since both of mine were.

Also, when Contra breadcrumbed his societies to me the first day, I was so excited about finding a fellow Stonecutter that I totally missed where he actually said "up with mutants" in the same PM, so we didn't actually know we shared both alignments until like halfway through the game.

:roflcopt:

That is so awesome. I tell you, it was doubly hard because I was seriously having to keep up the facade in RL. I HAD TO LOOK MY HUSBAND IN THE EYE AND JUST LIE AND LIE AND LIE.

Honestly, I had to play so much of the game in that aspect it exhausted me from sending out as many PMs as I should have, in hindsight. But really I felt like I was playing the game for hours every, single evening.

But the I-won't-play-with-Contra rule of Mafia doesn't apply to this game at all. Because we can talk about the game without breaking the rules of communication.

Also, apparently I am very, very good at it. I shoulda been an actress.

And you thought I was an Isotope. :giggle: I realized that in looking back over the PMs.

He was so freaked out by that revelation. He really thought you must be playing him and yet he didn't know how to respond. There was much gnashing of teeth and fears that you were trying to "get him back for Transformers Mafia."

If I had only been able to exploit that moment of paranoia to split you two up. If only. . . :wish:

This is why I fear to play any game with slim. I'm owed a knife in the back.

I got overexcited and wasted my snipe in the first round on an already dead Jerome who it turned out actually shared Perambulators with me. Unfortunately I couldn't tell shit from shinola with Jerome's "beat the bushes" style, and he didn't actually say anything to me until an hour before the first action- after I had already entered my action, and I was all like "Yeah, right."

My initial PM seeded references to my societies, and was pretty obvious to some (Contra and SR) and not so much to others; also because I tried to keep it to the tone of "we're out looking for commie mutant traitors" I think a few people assumed I was advertising that I was a commie or a mutant or whatever.

Contra did a good job of getting me to believe he might be a Grognard, but then Demi's laying out the details of his trickery smacked of truth but I assumed there were all kinds of lies mixed in there too, to disguise alliances or whatever.

Later on Bey started trying to intimate he was a Perambulator, but not until again right before a move, after I had already put in an action. I also targeted radio-quiets as assumed plotters without common societies, and Bey was one of these.

I tried to sow as much suspicion as I could, and then when I didn't hear much then simply told people what I was going to do, in the hopes that for lack of a better plan they would at least make the shot wounding or killing.

Did not expect Contra to shoot at Megatron with me. By that point no PMs were in the ether at all.

I think I see a number of things I would do differently next game.

I had fun, thanks Crumb for running it!

I wish we hadn't shot Kael.

Okay, Crumb. I gotta know something regarding Kael. What is a "defense mesh"?

Kael obviously lied and said he possessed a "passive device which made him immune to such things" when the subject of "recruitment" came up. THAT was what made me think "Alright...That a load of horse shit! He needs to die. Nobody should have that!"
So I reported this to the others, solidifying our decision to kill him (it solidified my decision, anyway).
Had he not shared that we might not have shot him as he seemed to be cooperating beautifully with the other stonecutters, though we remained suspicious of him and each other because of the 4 stonecutters thing.

I have a feeling that the next mission will be a lot more challenging.
Everyone has gotten to learn from both mistakes and successes throughout this game.

When are we going to start up the next mission?

The defense mesh protected Kael from telepath scanning and commie propaganda.

Hey, I didn't lie. Commie propaganda is the only recruiting thing I knew of and it was specifically mentioned in my item's description. I would've lied better than that...

Hey Demi, what was that thing about the matrix movies? I still have no idea what that was supposed to mean.

 That was when I had all the names of the societies and was trying to figure out who was who. I put together a questionnaire of different bread crumbs.

Question: What was the plot element that ruined The Matrix trilogy?

Answer: Zion, (or in this case Psion :giggle:)

Shit, even if I'd have been a Psion I don't think I'd have caught that.
