I've moved back home to help my Mom take care of my Dad....
He's in very bad health with type 1 diabetes, liver, heart, and stomach problems...
and an ornery old fuck to put it mildly.
But, he is my father.............

Update on the burneded-up house: It was set by the tenant, who was trying to kill himself. He spread gasoline all over the second floor, set it ablaze, and then chickened out and jumped out of a window. A neighbor took him in, not knowing he had set the fire. He then started looking around their house while their backs were turned for a gun to shoot himself (the neighbor is a military guy). He didn't find one, and later confessed to the police. He's in custody somewhere, whether loony bin or jail I'm not certain.
I strongly suspected arson given how quickly the place went up, but day-amn. The house is completely gutted and will probably be torn down. I talked briefly with the owner yesterday, who said that since the guy confessed she wouldn't have trouble with her insurance.

Yeah, there were drugs, depression, and stupidity involved. Apparently the trigger was his girlfriend leaving him. Something to do with him being a drug-addled, depressed, crazy moron, I'm guessing.

I'm having electronics withdrawal here.
Yesterday, while trying to add more gizmos to my entertainment center--which, I should know better--I screwed up my cable box's connection to my TV. This caused me to miss Dexter and unless I figure out how to fix it by tonight, I'll also miss Intervention. Damn it!
This morning as I was doing my daily Internet surfing ritual, my laptop died. No warning, no nothing ... it just shut itself the fuck off and refused to turn on again.
All I have now is my cell phone, my Kindle, and my XM radio/MP3 player. (Oh, and my work computer, which says howdy.)
Why, God, Why?!

I think it just resets the machine, not the laptop. I dunno. It just worked.

It sounds like a hard reset, which usually just resets your machine to the factory settings. I've only ever done it I think on phones and PDAs and things like that, but I'm assuming it works the same for a laptop.

In other news, I have "the sads" and feel like shit. That plus the fact the doc upped my antidepressants to 60 mg / day (the maximum dose). I was told to expect some side-effects.
