It is with a sad heart that I bid this forum goodbye. After spending a day in tears from the pain of my own past traumas, I realized that to stay on this forum is not good for me. I can't handle that people think that child abuse is something to joke about or make fun of. It is too painful. When I clicked on the link I had no idea that it was a joke about child sexual abuse. Gawd, it was awful and I can't handle it.

Thank you Megatron and Doc for your notes to me, I appreciate it. I am going to miss the laughter, fun and good conversation and threads that made me think, it was all good, except for this one thing. I hope some will realize the pain they cause when joking about other people's trauma. I don't know when something like this became an acceptable thing to do, but I want you to know how painful it is for us who have suffered. It is not something that goes away.

Liv please ban me so that I am not tempted to come back in and post, I don't want another day like yesterday and it will help me to avoid stumbling in on something that causes me so much pain. It's going to be tough as this is a daily habit for me, that has turned into something not good for my well being.

I will come back in and read this thread if anyone cares to leave some words. I will miss many of you and some I will keep in touch with over on Facebook.

Some people use humor to deal with their own traumas, as was mentioned several times yesterday. It wasn't about you until you made it about you.

I'll do what you ask, of course, but I do so very reluctantly. Over the years we've discussed these topics before seriously and with delicacy, and will in all likelihood do so again.

Before I press the buttons, I'd like to ask that you try implementing the ignore features we have to help people choose what they wish to be exposed to in this forum. That thread can disappear for you, as can the people who are prone to make that kind of joke.

You have a long history here, p-dub, and this is just one thread. I very much hope the long history can come to outweigh the one thread for you.

Both my sister and I were abused as children (and to be perfectly clear I mean sexually abused in addition to more garden variety abuse), you deal with trauma your way and I will deal with it mine. The thing that gets to me is that I don't get sanctimonious and fuck with you for the way you deal with the "slings and arrows of outrageous fortune." Yes I think Pedobear is funny but it wasn't about you. You could ignore the thread or start another thread saying that you found that picture or my post in poor taste. You could put me on ignore as well. I am sure that you wouldn't be the first around here and that is one of the things that makes this forum so great.

As an aside this could have been done with a pm, your need for self inflicted drama is unhealthy. I hope you come back but more importantly I hope you get help.

Maybe I am a prick because of my childhood, perhaps, but I don't do passive-aggressive bullshit. It is one of my finer qualities I think.

I will say, though, that as has been mentioned, many people deal with hurt and pain with humor; myself being one of them. Like millions of others, I've been abused, hurt, misled, fucked over, fucked with, and kicked repeatedly while I was down by people I love/d. With that said, I'm a sarcastic, joking, smart ass about the-too-many-bad-things-that-happen-in-this-world-every-second-ever-day-to-count and about my own life lessons, whether of my own doing or someone else's. It's how I deal.

Not everyone sees/uses humor in the face of adversity, but certainly, many do. I wish you luck in keeping yourself shielded from that humor.

Being able to stay away from triggers is very important. My GF purposely ignores the news because it makes her depressed, and I have started doing that too. Just the same, being able to ignoring that thread is important.
