PUNK RAWK!

Oh, we can't take you Aussies anywhere anymore.

Of course what Americans would do... I'd tell you, but they're all in "secret" prison.

Hey Stormy, some of the Grand Duke's old stuff just turned up. Henri won't get it back, though. He'll just have to be satisfied with that princely title Grandpa Felix left him instead.

It’s interesting to look at the war memorials in Luxembourg: tanks pointing their guns at Germany, that sort of thing.

Years ago we were in a shop in Luxembourg: the locals were nattering away in their dialect of German. In walked some Germans: the locals swapped immediately to their dialect of French.
That's lies! Lies! ALL LIES!

Tanks at war memorials are not pointing their guns at Germany. That's absurd.

Also, there is no "their dialect of French" and I find it very, very hard to believe that the quirky "locals" who were "nattering away in their dialect of German" (which: :glare:) swapped to French when Germans walked in. Personally I have never seen or heard of such a thing especially since there is no reason for it as Germans generally don't understand our "dialect of German".

I must protest in the strongest possible terms, Mr. drusus and I demand action against this outrageous and uncalled for attack!

Radio Luxembourg was responsible for introducing rock music to the UK.

Back in the 50s and early 60s the BBC refused to play such heathen music, but Radio Luxembourg, which had the world's most powerful commercial medium wave transmitter*, used its huge directional antenna tower to beam rock and pop music towards the UK every night.

People would tune their old valve (tube) radio sets to the famous 208-metre wavelength to listen in: depending on where you were in the UK and the atmospheric conditions, the signal might be weak and wavering, but the music and the DJs were much more exciting than anything available on the BBC's 'light program' or 'home service' stations.

Some of the English presenters, such as Pete Murray, would later work for the BBC, but it was the hugely powerful Luxembourg transmitter that got their careers started.

* several hundred kilowatts from the 50s rising to 1.2 megawatts from 1968

True that. The Brits back in the day knew Luxembourg mostly due to Radio Luxembourg. :tooloud:
