NRA calls for review of bump stock rules - CNNPolitics
Quote:
"The National Rifle Association is calling on the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) to immediately review whether these devices comply with federal law," the NRA said in a statement. "The NRA believes that devices designed to allow semi-automatic rifles to function like fully-automatic rifles should be subject to additional regulations."
|
Seems the NRA is Shocked. SHOCKED they tell us.

Re: Another Mass Shooting
The NRA would rather make concessions like, "Those devices not allowed by existing laws", than have Congress debate fresh laws that might introduce more background checks or limit magazine capacity.

Re: Another Mass Shooting
I know it's pointless but this is still shocking:
Quote:
So many people die annually from gunfire in the US that the death toll between 1968 and 2011 eclipses all wars ever fought by the country. According to research by Politifact, there were about 1.4 million firearm deaths in that period, compared with 1.2 million US deaths in every conflict from the War of Independence to Iraq.

All I got are charts I can't find the source for:
And cartoons:
And a long, wearying thread of a large number of elected reps who took money from the NRA:

Re: Another Mass Shooting
Wait....Luxembourg has a GDP of nearly $100,000 per capita?
What kind of really gross domestic products are they making? Solid gold commodes?
Stormy....Clue me in.

Police are staying very tightlipped on the subject, but this one was just plain odd. No motive, and a seemingly random target. I'm inclined to agree with their assessment that he had some secret life we don't know about yet. Given his old life in finance and new one in gambling I'll wild-guess it was organized crime related.

Re: Another Mass Shooting
Poes law!
Conservatrolls on twitter are arguing that liberals are hypocrites because they refuse to call for car control.
With reports of fake guns, this is as much a suicide via cop attempt as it is a terrorist attack. No one purposefully gets the attention of cops while brandishing fake guns unless they want to get shot.

Re: Another Mass Shooting
Shootings at churches in Fresno and near San Antonio. The latter has resulted in at least fifteen confirmed deaths.
As always, it is too soon to talk about any sort of meaningful gun legislation or do anything more than send thoughts and prayers.

Re: Another Mass Shooting
False alarm everyone!
We thought it might've been a Muslim terrorist attack that demands action against their repulsive ideology of violence and hate, but reports are coming in that actually it was merely another unfortunate instance of committing mass gun murder happening to a white man.
Why are white male gun owners victimized by becoming mass murderers? We don't know, and we certainly don't want to find out.
