Haven't seen Pink Floyd, or any member of Pink Floyd, live in concert since 1977. That's scheduled to change come Thursday. My concert buddy from work and I have tickets to see former Floyd drummer Nick Mason. Last fall, Mason put together a band and toured England and the continent performing pre-Dark Side of the Moon Floyd tunes. Worked out well enough that they brought the show here to the States.

I'm bike shopping! I like a bikeable distance from work, and my road bike is kind of overkill for a 20 minute ride, so I'm looking for a commuter bike, or something like that.
Ooh, Astronomy Domine? Interstellar Overdrive? Careful With That Axe, Eugene?
Haven't seen Eugene on any of the set lists, but the other two are definitely in the mix, along with the tune ceptimus linked and other treasure such as See Emily Play, A Saucerful of Secrets, Obscured by Clouds, Lucifer Sam, If, Atom Heart Mother, Point Me at the Sky, and One of These Days.

I was only marginally aware that they existed before Dark Side but those are some interesting videos!
I was a 15-year-old dipshit who was utterly unaware of Pink Floyd's existence until Money hit AM radio. Wasn't overly impressed with the song at first, but it grew on me enough that I bought Dark Side of the Moon. By the end of side one (Speak to Me, Breathe, On the Run, Time, and The Great Gig in the Sky) I was a total fanboy. At that point it was all about checking out the prior stuff.
They were prolific AF before Dark Side of the Moon! Seven studio albums from 1967-1972, all great in very different ways. The releases were much fewer and father between after Dark Side.
Oh, and the show was just spectacular. I recommend it highly. Nick Mason is still a human metronome, and the band is tight as hell. They did a version of If, with about ten minutes of Atom Heart Mother sandwiched in the middle, that must be heard to be believed. Haven't found anything on YouTube that even comes within hollering distance of doing it justice.

Nick Mason
On tour: yes
Nick Mason is not playing near you.
At least I have a chance to see Steve Hackett in October, since I missed him last time. Fox Theater in Oakland - decent venue, but I could have seen him at the goddamned fucking Warfield last time.

Hackett will be great, Sock. Closest they get to me this year is Arizona, and that ain't nearly close enough.

I was fired from my job a week ago Thursday, but I'm starting a new one on Monday. I liked the last company and the work was somewhat interesting, but my team was terrible. I was left to thrash around in the deep end from the moment they fired the manager who hired me (2 weeks after I was hired) and I never found my footing (mixed metaphor ftw). I'm hoping for a better experience at the new place. It's also a little scary though because I told them I'd be willing to cross-train in back-end development in addition to my "devops engineer" responsibilities, and I am not any kind of a programming prodigy.
The Mor-man and I celebrated one year of Mawwwiage last weekend.
We stayed at a beautiful Bed & Breakfast in Niagara on the Lake. We shopped, ate loads of good food, did the tacky attractions in Niagara Falls and visited Barfalo just across the border.
Also new for us, like kids we spent the afternoon at an indoor water park - doing all the slides and wave pool etc... The Mor-man even splurged for a Cabana - which is really a big deal because he doesn't like to spend money/cause people to work/do stuff on a Sunday.
Where I grew up, folks referred to the old Cleveland Municipal Stadium (and sometimes Cleveland itself) as the Mistake on the Lake. But only those who've been to Buffalo know the true meaning of "Mistake on the Lake."

He is doing a three night stand at a local club, and as the local chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America, we have a table at the club all three nights and get to see him for free. He's one of my favorite performers, and now he's one of my favorite people.
I'm sure I've told this story before, but he was the opener at a show I went to back in the 80s. It was raining pretty hard, and there was a pretty long line of people waiting outside with no shelter anywhere.
And Billy Bragg came out wearing his contraption thing and serenaded the line in the pouring rain. Because he was just the opening act, most people didn't even seem to know who he was. He did get a pretty big round of cheers when he came on stage, though.
Those appear to be Hooded Mergansers.
How interesting, because my boss sent me a pic of the very same type of critter, just yesterday, asking me If I knew what they were.
At the time, I did not. had to look them up.
