But I have only been reading a few pages every night before bed now and I barely have a clue what is going on...

Re: What are you reading?
Just finished these:
Anathem is my favorite of Stephenson's books, and I dig me some Stephenson. I may write up a full review if I have time. TLW is an entertaining wrap-up to the Watch series.

They weren't supposed to be clickies, I'm just too lazy to find a picture that doesn't have the stupid Amazon 'click here" text in it.

All in all, it sucked. It got better toward the end and promised an orgasmic climax, but then didn't deliver.
And here I thought that Stephen King was different from other guys.

Just finished Dead Until Dark, the first Sookie Stackhouse book. I absolutely loved it.

Currently watching a Great Courses DVD on Dante's Divine Comedy, so have dusted off my copy of Inferno in anticipation.

Re: What are you reading?
Haven't touched The Moon Pool since last week - just haven't felt like reading fiction lately. I'm going to take The Rubayyat of Omar Khayyam with me to work tomorrow. This is a copy I found used, purchased after Petra mentioned it a time or two.

Does it have the first and fifth editions? Fitzgerald's translations are almost totally different from each other.

Re: What are you reading?
How To Win a Cosmic War, by Reza Aslan (advance copy, due out in April). Pissed off at the off-handed comparison between Jihadists and Bolsheviks in the introduction. Will be writing my congressperson about it. Or a review.

It's only one edition. After reading it today, I did some poking around online and one site quoted the quatrain 'The moving hand...' as being number 71 in the fifth edition. It's numbered 70 in mine.
There is a site that has the different editions, but I didn't get around to checking the book against the site.
This book was purchased second hand (if not third or fourth...) It was published in '67 and most likely predates any mass produced scholarly editions.
Regardless, I enjoyed it a lot and will probably keep it in my book bag for a time.

Re: What are you reading?
So far, I'm enjoying it. The main character's dual nature reminds me of a similar issue that had to be overcome in my own life.

Re: What are you reading?
Just finished A Short History of World War I, by James L. Stokesbury. It was meh... I'm pretty sure there are much better books on the subject out there.
Just started The Second World War: A Complete History, by Martin Gilbert. So far, so good.
