Re: News Miscellany
Back to Sri Lanka.
The govt seem quite ready to point the finger and assign a motive, although no one has claimed responsibility, or given any reason why Sri Lankan Christians should be a target.

cabinet spokesperson and health minister Rajitha Senaratne blamed the bombings on National Thowheeth Jama'ath, a little-known Muslim organisation.

OK wait - this is commitment to democracy:
Indian officials travel deep into jungle so lone holy man can vote | World news | The Guardian
Quote:
Indian officials travelled nearly 70km (45 miles) through jungle this week to ensure a 69-year-old holy man got to cast his vote in the Indian general election.
Four election officials, accompanied by a policeman, set up a special polling station deep in the Gir wildlife sanctuary in Gujarat state so a sole voter – Bharatdas Darshandas – could take part in the world’s biggest democratic exercise.
Darshandas, a priest who has lived at his remote forest temple for two decades, has not missed an election since 2002, and cast his vote on Tuesday by walking nearly a kilometre to the special polling station.
Darshandas looks after a Shiva temple in the 350 sq km wildlife sanctuary, home to some 600 of the last remaining Asiatic lions.

Re: News Miscellany
The people have to show commitment too.
Anyway, maybe they needed a power socket. Or an area without tree cover for their solar panels. Or a flat, level parking area for their batteries-included voting van.
Or ... and I prefer this one ... the shrine itself is surrounded by a sacred "no expression of free will" area.

Re: News Miscellany
So, today, this came out: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-u...-idUSKCN1SD2JG
Quote:
Falwell, president of Liberty University, one of the world’s largest Christian universities, said someone had come into possession of what Cohen described as racy “personal” photographs — the sort that would typically be kept “between husband and wife,” Cohen said in the taped conversation.
According to a source familiar with Cohen’s thinking, the person who possessed the photos destroyed them after Cohen intervened on the Falwells’ behalf.
[...]
The Falwells wanted to keep “a bunch of photographs, personal photographs” from becoming public, Cohen told Arnold. “I actually have one of the photos,” he said, without going into specifics. “It’s terrible.”
[...] Cohen helped persuade Falwell to issue his endorsement of Trump’s presidential candidacy at a critical moment, they said: just before the Iowa caucuses.
|
I'm very sure that Cohen maintaining possession of a compromising photo of Falwell wasn't a factor in the endorsement. Trump and Cohen would never be so underhanded as to use something like that.
(lol at Tom Arnold secret recordings being a part of this)
This story gets especially interesting when combined with this earlier report from Buzzfeed: Trump Backer Jerry Falwell Explains His $1.8 Million Real Estate Venture With A Florida Pool Attendant
Quote:
The prominent evangelical leader Jerry Falwell Jr. has for the first time acknowledged putting up $1.8 million for a business venture managed by a young pool attendant whom he and his wife befriended during a stay at a luxury hotel in 2012.
BuzzFeed News first reported in May on a lawsuit that claimed the Falwells had developed a “friendly relationship” with Giancarlo Granda, then 21 years old, at the lavish Fontainebleau Miami Beach, flying him in a private jet, offering “financial assistance,” and ultimately setting him up in business.
|
Just typical of the exceptional generosity Falwell displays towards all service workers, I'm sure. Some people might just leave large three- or four-figure tips to show their appreciation, Jerry just gives over a million dollars in loans. Nothing strange about that.
Quote:
As BuzzFeed News had previously reported, a source close to Falwell said he was "sure" Falwell had discussed the Granda case with Cohen prior to his unexpected decision to lend his backing to Trump.
|
That's weird... Michael Cohen and the Trump endorsement popped up in this story too!
From the aforementioned previous report:
Quote:
According to a separate source with knowledge of Trump’s campaign, Cohen was so confident in Falwell Jr.’s support that he and Trump assured others, even before Trump announced his candidacy, that Falwell Jr. would issue an endorsement.
|
So, when you combine these reports, I would say it would be irresponsible for us not to speculate on what exactly Jerry Falwell Jr is doing with that pool boy in those photos.
1. Are Jerry and his wife engaged in a typical threesome with the pool boy?
2. Or is Jerry's wife not involved, and it's just him and the pool boy, and the talk about being the sort of thing kept "between husband and wife" is misdirection?
Either way, with a $1.8 million loan and a lawsuit relating to that business, his wife has to know something of it.
3. Or, is it my favored theory: Jerry Falwell Jr is literally a cuck, that is, Jerry's a cuckold fetishist and the pool boy fucked his wife while the two of them verbally humiliated Jerry?
Or is it something else?
Regardless of whether or what kind of kink this moralizing hypocritical homophobe is into... I'm sure that this pool boy has something to do with these photos. More importantly, it also seems very plausible, perhaps even likely, that Trump and Cohen blackmailed Jerry Falwell Jr into endorsing Trump. If that is the case, it certainly would color my perception of, for example, Lindsey Graham's about-face on Trump.

Re: News Miscellany
The Chinese video game crackdown has begun, and it's forced Tencent to pull their hugely popular and profitable (to the tune of $65 Million in March), PUBG Mobile game off the Chinese market. It's been replaced by a chinese government friendly "Game for Peace."
Game for peace however looks strangely like PUBG mobile, uncannily like it, but that can't be as it's made by the entirely same company. It's just a miracle of chinese ingenuity that all the players records and purchases were instantly ported to the new game with no problem whatsoever.
If it wasn't obvious by now, Game for Peace is Pubg with a few tiny tweaks, like the 'story' being pro-chinese-airforce and the removal of bodies, oh and the fact it managed to sneak in early approval while 'PUBG' got caught out by a submission freeze.
Tencent Replaces hit mobile game with chinese government friendly alternative.
I find this funny as no matter what country you go too, there will always be bureaucracy and those that speak its lingo of bullshit.

Re: News Miscellany
Oh I missed this part, from the Reuters report:
Quote:
The source said Cohen flew to Florida and soon met with an attorney for the person with the photographs. Cohen spoke with the attorney, telling the lawyer that his client was committing a crime, and that law enforcement authorities would be called if the demands didn’t stop, the source said.
|
Hmm, what a coincidence. That's where the pool boy lives now.

Re: News Miscellany
Racist, violent posts by police: Departments investigating
Quote:
Police departments in at least five states are investigating, and in some cases condemning, their officers’ social media feeds after the weekend publication of a database that appears to catalog thousands of bigoted or violent posts by active-duty and former cops.
The posts were uncovered by a team of researchers who spent two years looking at the personal Facebook accounts of police officers from Arizona to Florida. They found officers bashing immigrants and Muslims, promoting racist stereotypes, identifying with right-wing militia groups and, especially, glorifying police brutality. All the posts were public.
“It’s a good day for a choke hold,” wrote an officer in Phoenix. A sergeant in Philadelphia commented that a young suspect should be “taken out back and put down like the rabid animal he is.” Another sergeant posted a meme that said, “Death to Islam.” In St. Louis, a police official shared a meme asserting that “if the Confederate flag is racist, then so is Black History Month.”
|
Hey remember when the cop in Texas shot a black man in his own apartment because she mistook his apartment for her own, and then the next 24-hours were a desperate race to take down all the posts and pics of her and others making the white supremacy symbol, wearing shirts belittling black lives matter, and otherwise explicitly laying out her racist beliefs?
