Re: Isolation diaries
The Queen will 'make Windsor her permanent base after two years WFH'
Quote:
THE Queen will never live in Buckingham Palace again, it was reported last night.
The 95-year-old monarch will instead make Windsor Castle her permanent address after spending two years “working from home” at the 1,000-year-old castle.
|
Royal approval for wfh.

Re: Isolation diaries
While I'm now plague free for over a week, the symptoms haven't gone away.
Slight nausea, cough etc. I'm also tired all the time but that might just be a crushing depression.

Re: Isolation diaries
Forgot my mask going to 7-11. Went in anyway, distanced like a champ, got my thing, got out, washed hands.

Re: Isolation diaries
Gotta admire the fearlessness of a pair of 60-70 year old maskless ladies who don’t distance next to the masked dude suffering what’s probably allergies.

Re: Isolation diaries
We're pretty much all back in the office again which was fun! For a while ... I was quickly reminded why I hated the office in the past: the noise, the smell, the guy tapping his pen on the desk for 30 minutes, the guy eating like a pig next to you. And of course nobody keeps any kind of distance anymore.
I'm not saying I'm ready for the next pandemic but ... you know.

Re: Isolation diaries
We had 6 people in the office yesterday, which was probably the most in months.
I'm usually the only person there, maybe one or two more. I miss having someone to walk down the hall to chat with.
I started going back since I couldn't handle working at home any more - it felt more like living at work instead of working at home.

Miisa and I are both working in her flat this week ... which means the guy tapping his pen and the guy eating like a pig ... are both me.
The smell, however, we can still blame on the dogs. And the noise is the what the fuck are they doing neighbours.

Re: Isolation diaries
I'm going to do a little re-do in my home office. Maybe not technically a re-do but an initial do, as we've only been here 5 months and everything is still in the initial "okay, we've unpacked, now what?" stage.
Like many home offices, mine is a bedroom with a desk instead of a bed. The closet is on the opposite wall from the desk and has mirrored doors, so you can see my whole ass on the webcam. Unacceptable! Then I remembered, we own this fucking joint. We can do whatever we want.
I am going to take the doors off the closet, remove the clothes-hanging bar, put my desk in the closet, and convert it into a little workspace hutch. There's already a light in there, which means there's wiring for even different lighting if I feel like it in the future.
I'm going to turn the opposite corner into little break nook with a comfy chair by the book cases. This is so I can take a break without entirely exiting the office and getting sidelined by my giant TV, adorable puppies, doting spouse, etc. I will hang up some posters and art and whatever, too.
I don't love remote working, but it looks like at this point it's not going away, so I better set myself up for success. I definitely didn't do that 2 years ago, and that's why now I'm looking for a jerb.

Re: Isolation diaries
Just think, we’re going back living this way to satisfy the sunk cost fallacy involved with an office space lease despite having communication technology ahead of Star Trek.
