Obligation is too strong a word, I would opine. Certainly you are at liberty to defend your thread with, if necessary, firearm smilies.
I mean, say what you think. Yes, that's it.

Re: What's the frequency, Colorado?
Aurora, CO mayor and former congressman Mike Coffman (R-natch) has this shit all figured out. Wanna fight COVID-19? Dine out every week!
You know, when the veneer of civilization starts wearing a little thin, it's probably not the best idea to say shit that draws a big red circle around the idea that there are few problems that can't be solved via swift and blinding violence.

Hancock beat him to that. He was telling people to keep coming in to Denver and spending their money, not ten minutes after Polis advised everybody to stay home.

It was almost like he thought they were just waiting for him to show so they could slam the door in his face.
Floridians are like that, though.
My daughter is mad at New York City because they exposed her kids to the CV-19 bug while they were on a field trip.

Re: What's the frequency, Colorado?
On one hand, people should be allowed to be, uh, disappointed that any plans they made are getting delayed or cancelled. Yeah, it's all First World Problems - I can't go skiing in Vail. I can't go to this concert. Disneyworld is closed. (Some extra empathy is set aside for people who can't go visit their dying aunt or whatever.) I'm not going to throw a lot of animosity their way just for being human and wanting things.
The second hand says, don't use words like destroyed and tragic and the like such as when the disease that is closing all these venues is actually killing people. Unless people in your life, I suppose you included, are getting terribly ill or dying or worse you not getting to see the very last Aerosmith concert isn't the end of the universe. Even for once in a life time events or experiences.
What's killing morons like Rep Florida Man is his apparent lack of that empathy to the greater situation. For that, I will certainly stink eye them and wish them a merry cock-punching.

Denver is clamping down a bit more: no on-site dining at restaurants and bars, effective 3/17; all gatherings of 50 or more postponed; gyms and theaters can remain open for now; DMV locations will be closed to the public starting today.
They won't be assigning any sheriff's deputies to assist with evictions, either. That's good, but it also raises the specter of wealthier landlords resorting to "self-help" by hiring their own eviction goon squads.

It's about time, FFS.
I just heard that someone who works in Eagle got turned back by the National Guard like it's totally quarantined, but I'm not seeing any confirmation of that, so it sounds like a misunderstanding or something. But they were saying they were already having a hard time financially, and now they have zero income.
There are a lot of people who can't afford this at all. Some who have to go into work, others who can't and now have no income. It's fucked. We should have been working on this months ago.

Re: What's the frequency, Colorado?
Holy shit. The mayor of Denver just called for a citywide shutdown except for essential businesses, and he did not include liquor stores and dispensaries as essential. It starts tomorrow.
Grocery stores here are only allowed to sell beer. No wine or liquor.
This is bad. A really bad bad idea and he needs to reverse that decision right this minute before things go shit. People having DTs and panic buying liquor and weed is going to make things worse, not better.
For fuck's sake, Hancock.

Re: What's the frequency, Colorado?
AND FURTHERMORE, he is the Mayor of DENVER. He's walked down the streets, I presume, and seen the people who live on the sidewalks begging for change to buy liquor by the shooter. Those are his constituents, too, and it's his fucking job to understand them and take their needs into account. And like it or not, access to alcohol is one of their primary needs. They can't just go cold turkey, and many of them will DIE from alcohol withdrawal if he forces them to. Many more will probably end up in hospitals.
At least with weed, there are existing alternate sources. We don't really have a black market for alcohol. Yet. People are going to start drinking rubbing alcohol and mouthwash and cologne and anything else they can get their hands on, and a lot of them are going to get sick too.
I still just can't wrap my head around how he could possibly think this is a good idea.

Fortunately, Hancock reads the and has taken my advice and rolled back the restrictions on liquor stores and recreational dispensaries.
Not before people started crowding around them all trying to stock up, though.

Re: What's the frequency, Colorado?
Here, our man Gavin Newsom knows what's what. Dispensaries were considered essential from the get-go, and there's no blue-law bullshit to screw with our booze.

Hancock is exceptionally stupid, so his decision to sign the original order, though stupid, was in character. The truly amazing part of the whole mess is that he apparently has zero trusted advisors who said, "Mr. Mayor, this plan to close dispensaries and liquor stores is dumb as dog shit, and here's why."
Colorado became the 22nd state to abolish capital punishment when the governor signed the repeal bill yesterday. He also commuted the death sentences of all three Colorado death row inmates.
