Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
She needs one 'scrip eyedrop in each eye twice a day to deal with a dry-eye issue, common among Marty Feldman Miniature Pitbulls. But other than that she's p. healthy. I still need to contact the vet the rescue group used to get her full records, but I don't envision any problems. She also seems to have lousy night vision, but I think her peepers are reasonably okay.
She also tends to want to bolt outside when the front door is open. Might have something to do with why she was found wandering the streets in the first place, so we hafta keep a close eye on her. She obviously was trained by someone, since she arrived at the foster home knowing exactly what a pet door is for. For which I am extremely grateful -- I was dreading having to potty-train a puppeh if we'd gone that route.

I know you were. It is fantastic that she came to you already trained.
As for the door opening thing, our friends recently adopted a Yorkie that they dubbed Zippy for the same thing. Prolly why he was wandering and was nearly coyote chow. They are working on sit-stay command before any door is opened, even the back door. The repitition really really works!

OKAY YOU GUYS I'M GONNA SPEAK TRUTH TO POWER NOW SO SIT DOWN.
Buddy gets a little chilly sometimes on our walks, so he really needs a coat or something for the wintertime. And I figure Zsa Zsa should have one too. Partly for warmth, also partly for fairness and adorable doggy coordinating because of shut up I do what I want.
Well, apparently, Zsa Zsa wears an EXTRA EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT LARGE, and Buddy wears a LARGE. HE IS TINY. HE IS A TINY LITTLE DOGGY. And ZZ is not tiny, but neither is she EXTRA EXTRA LARGE. She is NORMAL. And I'm sick and tired of these dog clothing manufacturers perpetuating these unhealthy and ridiculous standards to America's puppehs.

Those horrible monsters are horribler than anything a mawling facemawler could ever want to be! ZZ is a dainty, lady-like ladydog who sticks her pinky paw out when she's mawling faces! EXTRA BIG LARGE IS A CRIME AGAINST CANINITY!

Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
I assume you guys are all on tenterhooks, so I took some pictures.
They are p. hard to get, mostly because Zsa Zsa is confused by not being naked all the time. She thought her coat was a toy to play with (she calls them elephants, BTW), but then I put it on her, and she's all like OMG NOW *I* AM THE ELEPHANT and she started like trying to bite herself or something a lot.
So anyways, here is a picture where it looks like she's yarking. She's really just getting a stick, but she's usually so photogenic it is making me lol:

Buddy, on the other hand, seems to be quite familiar with clothing. We put his LARGE SIZED coat on and he was all like, "Yeah, now I am wearing a coat, whatever," just like that. All cool and blase and shit.

Those are thanks to my fleecy toys I make him. I swear, I have never had to brush his teeth or had a cleaning. I need to post instructions for that. He has a million dollar smile for pennies I swears.

You totally need to post instructions for that, also for cat-sized versions. My cat has had big tartar problems, although she's doing much better since we switched to giant crunchies.

She don't need no stinking tagses. She knows what her name is.

Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
We took ripley with us to our friends will and stephanie. Ripley was remarkably well behaved for a chihuahua, except for when she pooped on another dogs bed. But that wasn't poor potty training that was just her showing Buddy who was boss.

She's had it for a little while. It's all muddy from when we went to south Georgia last weekend and she played around with Buddy in the rain but fortunately the camera's not good enough to pick that up. She needs to do her damn laundry is what it is!

Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
Just for the record, while I wouldn't say that I was opposed to getting a chihuahua, I was not completely enthused. i grew up with big dogs. Ripley, however, is the best dog ever and the cutest. The intense pack bonding just makes her so adorable, and she is actually friendly to people once she gets to know them.

Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
Big News: Buddy's Christmas gift to us yesterday was ALL-DAY SNUGGLETIME.
He's been slowly coming around to us since he came home, getting a little more attentive and affectionate and stuff (in fact, it's been difficult to gauge his level of deafness without conflating it with his level of apathy and disinterest in us). He does shadow us, and would jump up for maybe a ten minute cuddle here and there, but for the most part, he's an independent man of mystery. He'll usually spend a fair amount of time back in the office by himself napping on his dog bed and stuff like that and just check in here and there to say hey.
But yesterday: BOOM. After he got up and opened his presents (he loves his Nylabone), he just cuddled all day long. He likes to carve out a spooning position with whoever is on the couch, so we basically did shifts spooning with Buddy all. day. long. And then, toward the end of the day, ZZ and I were on the couch, and she was lying by my feet, sleeping on her side, and he curled up to spoon against her belly and went straight to sleep. I sat there for probably about an hour before I finally had to get up and was gonna go get the camera, but that woke ZZ up and she got kind of freaked out I figure because Buddy has snapped at her to warn her off when she's tried to snuggle him in the past, so she moved over and lay down mooning at him from a foot or so away.
So I don't have any photographic proof, but you'll have to take my word for it. Buddy has decided that he trusts us with his affections now. So I guess we'd better not sell him or anything.

So the vet says that our cat Q has too much tartar on her teeth and that we need to bring her back in for a dental appointment. Is this for real or is it just something that they say, like how the people dentist says you have to floss every day (I know, right?)? I love Q even though she's eleven different flavors of "special" and has the personality of a very fluffy ottoman. All I ask of her is that she hangs around with us being all orange and fluffy, and all I offer in return, since she's not into playing or cuddles or anything, is a good home and good food and good health. But dental care for a cat? Are they serious with this?
