Thanks, friends. I made a correction to my original post. This occurred in Afghanistan, not Iraq.
We're hoping for the best. I don't know how accurate field reports are, so we don't want to put too much stock in whatever information we have right now.
I only met him a couple times, when he was a petulant teenager. He joined up right after 9/11 because he thought it was the right thing to do, and he'd hoped to make a difference, I suppose.

The good news is that if he made it to Germany, he can expect a pretty good recovery. The first eight or so hours are the make-or-break, and it looks like he got passed it. Obviously anything more depends on just where he got hit, and what he was wearing at the time.
