Oh, BTW Brim, I plan to buy you lunch as soon as I'm significantly less poor than you. My wife just got a crap job, but at least it means we'll stop running out of money before we run out of month.

Re: Lone Star Facts
Really, I am sorry for you Houston folks. I never was a fan of that city. Especially the lack of museums. I got an inclusive pass on a trip there, for all of them, and wandered through these buildings that were reported to have art collections in them. I think there was one decent gallery I found.
I'll go to Houston if I have to. But Austin is the shit.

Less poor than me means on the fricking street, so I hope you're doing better than that anyway. But seriously, hell, I'll make lunch of something. Why pay someone else so we can say hi.
I owe you a call.

Re: Lone Star Facts
There was a traveling Pompeii exhibit here a while back that kicked ass, and the Museum of Natural Science is pretty cool. But yeah, this isn't what I'd call a cultural Mecca. Quite a bit of performance art here and there, but I never get out to see any of that stuff.

I don't think I made it to the Natural Science Museum, but that is good to know for next time. I love theatre, I am still pissed that I missed the Verry Merry Unauthorized Children's Scientology Pageant at Circle last winter. The Circle and the Jubilee are greatness.

San Antonio. I'll only be there for the weekend, though, and I won't have a car.

Re: Lone Star Facts
Apparently, our hotel is right on the Riverwalk, so those things are on the agenda.

Kewl. The English pub there is pretty good. The food is so-so, but the beer selection rawks.

San Antonio is only an hour from Austin and I do have a car, so ping me if you want to grab lunch or something while you're there.

Re: Lone Star Facts
I remember San Antonio!
I remember the neighborhood kids telling me to turn my tricyle around when I knew I was allowed to ride it to the end of the block.
I remember stepping on a nail in the garden backyard.
I remember an angry fox at the zoo.
I remember...
(We lived there till I was 4.)

Re: Lone Star Facts
Houston -- swine flu capital right now. A Group of co-workers from Denver and Tulsa where there last week for training and seminars and everyone of them have come home sick. My boss called this morning and she has been tested positive with H1N1. So has most of the team from Denver that went to the training.
UGH!!!

Awesome. I'll get ahold of you closer to the trip. The person I'm meeting has to work during the day on Saturday and Sunday, so I should be free.
