I can't remember what show it was right now, but I definitely remember saying to Sou "we've watched this show 7 times and it's been this episode 5 times!".
OMG yes. That weirdly enrages me, like I don't even like this show, so why do I keep watching this one stupid episode of it over and over? The worst is when it's some big dramatic culmination of a character arc I don't give a shit about.
That not happening as often is probably the best part about getting rid of cable. (Unfortunately, sometimes another human will rewatch things near me still, but I can either leave or start making really loud gross noises until they stop doing it.)
Miisa insists that we saw a random episode of a random series the other day and that I said that I'd seen this episode several times. I don't remember which show let alone which episode, but now that (a) she's implanted this memory and (b) the law has an official name, I'm pretty sure it happened.
Even after hearing lisarea's voice this one time, I am amazed at how little I believe that is what she actually sounds like when I am reading things that she wrote.
I don't sound like Gilbert Gottfried. I sound pretty much like if there were a Norwegian death metal robot.
Gonzo will vouch for this, I'm sure.
I assume that actually means I sound LESS weird in real life, but I don't know and now I am getting self-conscious about it. I yell more than I do in person is the only thing I can think of. And I sing better here than in real life, too.
Three days ago: Watching something and hear Mazzy Star. "Huh. Been a while since I've heard them."
Two days ago: Watching something else, hear Mazzy Star again.
Yesterday: Mazzy Star comes up in completely unrelated conversation.

Wow. Yesterday, in the course of discussing Islamic terrorism elsewhere, I googled "terrorist groups" and Baader-Meinhof turned up on Google's first results screen! Spooky!
I wonder if Baader Meinhof is connected to the Law of Reruns, which is admittedly my own invention but seems pretty solid. It says: If you happen to catch a rare episode of a TV series you almost never watch, it will be the same episode every time.
Fortunately that's not my experience. One of our local FTA channels used to rerun MASH for something like ten years after the series finally concluded. I loved that show and kept watching it every time I had the chance, but somehow rarely saw an episode I had seen before. Same with Get Smart.
