Does Evil Exist?

Personally, I do not believe in Evil.

Oftentimes, behavior that is called Evil are crimes against Humanity such as killing another Human and mutilating the body of that Human. Another example that is called Evil is senseless mass killing of innocent Humans especially children. As it happens, the person who commits these crimes commits suicide. If the person lives and is captured alive it is found that the person has a mental illness.

I will be exploring this issue more in future posts.

As far as I am concerned, crimes against Humanity are the only behavior I might call evil. But even these cases I find difficult to really believe to be evil. Usually the person is mentally insane.

Schizophrenia is the illness usually associated with the insane. I know that these people are prone to suicide and homicide.

Many years ago I had applied for a gun license. There was a question on the application asking if I had a mental illness. It was stated that telling a lie was a felony.

I had answered yes because I have Schizophrenia and the application was rejected,

After reading the details of the people committing the acts of killing and mutilation and the mass killings I have found that all of them got through the background checks.

I do not believe all of them passed background checks. And mental illness might be a factor without diagnosis. And people with diagnoses may lie. And acts can be described as evil even if mental illness is involved. Ted Bundy was most probably mentally ill in some way, and he did things I would describe as evil.

I definitely believe in evil, but it is entirely a matter of human intention, there is nothing supernatural about it.

Evil, as such, is not an aspect of intentions. A Human does not consciously intend Evil. It is usually another Human who judges the intention as evil. Oftentimes this in a Court of Law.

I understand from my own experience when I get my shot and talk to my Social Worker every two weeks. At this Time I am asked if I have any thoughts of hurting myself or others.

The current research on mental illness considers it an abnormality of Behavior.
