I wonder if she literally thought she had no means of escape and was just resigned to her fate. I don't believe I'd be that calm in that situation, and I don't think I'd give up while there was air in the car.

I am also presuming that the drive from guest house to the main house was on private roads, or else she was planning to intentionally drive drunk on public roads to get back to her house.

I also imagine her friends were just as intoxicated as she was, because if I were outside the car, I'd be trying a lot harder to find a way inside. Just plumb weird indeed.

In "It's a good thing there's no afterlife featuring iron-dicked rape demons" news, Joe Lieberman died today.

Joe Lieberman, dead.

ETA: Oh... beaten to it.

Anyway, he sucked. But I guess he still wasn't as bad as most Republicans. High praise.

After reading a number of tweets and such about Lieberman, I finally found a good thing worth mentioning: He voted against confirming Clarence Thomas.

I mean, like I said, he was still better than most Republicans, given that he voted for the ACA even after making it worse. He was perhaps not better than the specific Republican he replaced in the Senate, though.

Yeah. People always focus on the negative. They never mention the good things cancer can cause.

Simpson brought the entire Buffalo Bills offensive line with him to press conferences during the season he broke 2,000 yards. I followed that as a teenager and thought, "That's a good dude, giving credit where credit's due." Years later I loled uncontrollably when he hosted SNL. ("Mandingo 2" is an all-time top 10 SNL sketch.)

And then he became a murdering piece of shit.

Anyhoo, RIP Robert MacNeil, who won an Emmy for his coverage of the Senate Watergate hearings and went on to host/co-host The Robert MacNeil Report, The MacNeil/Lehrer Report and The MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour on PBS for decades.

Saw a post, possibly edited, that claimed to be OJ posting "I did it" to his twitter the day before he died, which... like, if he did, that seems sort of like a smug asshole thing to do.

I did like the person observing that he can finally rest, knowing his wife's killer is dead.
