Hack to combine double posts made in quick succession?

Can we install a hack that combines posts if they’re made in close enough succession? I have no idea what Jerome just posted here:

But there’s no reason for a person to make three separate posts in the same thread within the span of eight minutes. It’s been a while since I looked on vBulletin.org, but I remember some of the anti-double post hacks would allow administrators to enable double posts after a certain span of time had elapsed. For the purposes of this board, I should think twenty-four hours would be a good length, since that’s when the edit window for new posts elapses.

A good argument for combining double posts like this, besides that it’s obnoxious, is that it pushes good content onto a previous page. Which is probably why he does it.

Anyway, since he’s returned to this board, I thought I’d bring up this suggestion again, since seeing several ignored post placeholders in a row gets old fast. I suppose I could just disable the placeholders since I rarely click them, but I like at least knowing which user I’m not reading.

I feel your pain. The hack you mention is a Good Idea and a Real Thing ... but might require Some Sort of Miracle.

Even if vm turns up, which he will at some point, finding a version of the mod that works on this medieval version of vbulletin, and risking borking the board by installing it, might be insurmountable obstacles.

Version 3.8.x, right? This hack and this hack both were for 3.8.x. Maybe one of them still works. But yeah, probably worth trying on a test board first just to make sure it doesn’t break the board.
