The Conviction Integrity Unit the Michigan Attorney General set up a couple of years back has borne fruit, exonerating a man who's been imprisoned since 1989. Dude was convicted of murder based on bite mark evidence, the junkiest of all junk science.
Like the majority of states, Michigan has a wrongful imprisonment compensation statute. Michigan's pays $50K for each year of wrongful imprisonment. Of course, these are tort "reform" laws that protect states from truly massive judgments.
