Re: Sporganizin'
I don't even know why we need all the spices we have. All I need are salt, pepper, lemon-pepper, chili powder, and Tony Cachere's Cajun powder.

Re: Sporganizin'
Roasted chicken gets lemon pepper or Cajun. I don't cook pasta and buy my marinara or other sauces in jars. I use garlic cloves, which I do not keep it in the spice cabinet.

Re: Sporganizin'
There is garlic in the Cajun seasoning, like in all spice rubs, and often in the lemon pepper as well. As someone allergic to garlic, that's information I needed to learn.

Ok, you about freaked me out there, but at least you have garlic, and that's generally how I use mine as well.

Yes, Tony Chachere's and lemon pepper that I use have garlic in them, that's why they taste so good.

Re: Sporganizin'
When we decided to move to the country Sou decided that we need jars, lots and lots of jars. Why? Well because of all the mice of course! Apparently we were/are going to be constantly harassed by mice, so we cannot have anything like rice, flour, etc... in anything but glass containers. Personally, I think she just has a jar fetish. I have to say though, they do look nice...
Also, we got a new spice rack which was described as rustic (crooked as shit).
The matching spice jars are not yet filled because Sou isn't sure about their airtightness yet.

Re: Sporganizin'
Yes, jar fetishes are totally rational.
Because my sporganization requires me to have different sizes and shapes of jars for easy identification, I will sometimes buy things just to get weird shaped jars they come in. Yesterday, in fact, I found some very suspiciously discounted caviar--$2!--that I got largely just to get a unique* jar. (I'm going to eat it, though, because I don't afraid of anything.)
* Yes, I know they are mass produced. I mean 'unique' to my sporganization scheme, you insufferable nerds.
